Respawn is looking for a Tools Developer who is passionate about developing world-class

tools for Apex Legends, our flagship game! You will have the chance to improve, optimize,

support, and develop new features for our content authoring tools.

Responsibilities:

- Design, build and maintain editors, compilers, previewers, debuggers and other tools

used by our content teams.

- Partner with developers, technical artists and content teams to define and streamline

end-to-end asset creation workflows.

- Maintain and extend content compilation pipelines, including data validation, baking

and packaging for runtime use.

- Fix bugs and reduce technical debt across the content authoring tools suite.

- Diagnose and resolve issues reported by our content creators and dev support team,

unblocking their day-to-day work.

- Translate feedback from our content creators into high-quality tool improvements.

- Break down ambiguous development problems in tools into scoped plans, identifying

dependencies, risks and relevant tasks.

- Use telemetry and user feedback to prioritize development work and measure the impact

of delivered changes.

- Propose and lead initiatives that improve the team's tools architecture and development

practices.

What we're looking for

- Excellent C++ and 3D math skills.

- 5+ years of experience building editors, systems and engines for game

development, having shipped game projects with large, mature codebases.

- Strong experience with level design, art, animation and other content workflows in a

game engine.

- Familiarity with commercial and proprietary game engines and their toolchains.

- Well-versed in software development principles and contemporary standards, with

solid knowledge of performance optimization techniques and design patterns used in

user-facing applications and game development.

- Experience with UI frameworks and an eye for UX best practices.

- A humble, service-minded subject matter expert who enjoys being the go-to person

for internal customers and solving issues for them.

Bonus

- Experience working with graphics APIs.

- Experience building tools in C# and Python.

- Experience working with DCC tools

Pay Transparency - North America

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$122,300 - $170,700 CAD* California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. San Francisco) *$143,800 - $217,200 USD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.

In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and other incentive programs.

For Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and other incentive programs.
