Tool Install Rigging Lead, Construction
Description
Tesla is seeking a Tool Install Rigging Lead to serve as the on-site point of contact for rigging and tool installation at Gigafactory Nevada and nearby sites. This role is hands-on and requires strong safety ownership, technical judgment, and the ability to keep other trades, vendors, and leadership aligned. The successful candidate owns the job, coordinates the work, and is the single point of contact for the crew. This position is located in Sparks, NV and requires working at heights up to 80 ft, in confined spaces, and performing physically demanding tasks including lifting 50+ lbs.
Responsibilities
- Serving as the single point of contact on assigned jobs, answering questions, giving direction, and coordinating with other trades, vendors, foremen, general foremen, superintendents, and production teams
- Leading rigging operations including load planning, signal-person duties, critical lift setup, and mobile equipment coordination
- Directing equipment setting, anchoring, relocation, and demolition according to drawings, manufacturer guidelines, and Tesla standards
- Overseeing loading and offloading of heavy tools and materials using forklifts, hoists, cranes, and proper rigging gear
- Reading and interpreting rigging plans, layout drawings, and specs, resolving field issues, and giving the crew clear direction
- Owning job-site safety including daily inspections, pre-task plans, PPE, LOTO, and stopping work when conditions are unsafe
- Keeping the site organized and communication flowing through timely updates, clean work areas, and status reporting to the team and stakeholders
Requirements
- 4+ years of construction experience with a strong background in rigging, tool installation, equipment setting, or industrial construction, including time leading work on active jobs
- Proven ability to plan and run lifts including selecting and inspecting rigging hardware, reading load charts, signaling hoists, and leading critical lift setups
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment and the ability to direct their use on a live job site
- Strong command of job-site safety practices including hazard assessments, LOTO, and fall protection with the judgment to stop work and hold the standard
- Ability to read construction drawings and rigging plans, understand structural alignment, and turn them into clear direction for the crew
