Description

We are seeking an energetic, hands-on Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations on the Engineering Test Track in Austin. This role oversees a team of engineering technicians, inspectors, and full/part time drivers responsible for performing inspections, burn-in operations, and issue documentation on the vehicle fleet with a strong emphasis on vehicle-level diagnostics, data-driven reporting, scheduling, and resource planning.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Tesla safety, quality, and operational standards at all times. Lead and supervise a team of engineering technicians and quality inspectors in daily test track operations for the GFTX production and engineering fleets
  • Oversee and participate in vehicle inspections, burn-in procedures, and related quality/validation activities
  • Ensure accurate logging, organization, tracking, and escalation of issue findings; maintain clear records and support root-cause discussions
  • Apply vehicle-level knowledge and diagnostic skills to support troubleshooting, triage, and operational decisions
  • Lead, schedule, and coordinate full-time and contract employee drivers across day and night shifts to meet test and operational demands. Develop and manage shift schedules, resource allocation, and workforce planning to maintain coverage, efficiency, and safety
  • Produce clear reports, dashboards, and data summaries on operations, issues, throughput, and team performance. Drive continuous improvement in processes, safety, quality, and data integrity on the test track
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, quality, and operations partners; escalate critical issues promptly. Foster a high-performance, accountable, and safety-first team culture; provide coaching, feedback, and performance management

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in a supervisory or lead role over technicians, inspectors, or similar technical operations teams (automotive, manufacturing, test, or fleet environment preferred)
  • Solid vehicle-level technical knowledge and diagnostic capability (EV systems experience a strong plus)
  • Demonstrated strength in reporting, data handling, issue tracking, and organizing technical findings
  • Proven scheduling, shift management, and resource/capacity planning skills (including mixed full-time and contract workforces and day/night operations)
  • Energetic, dynamic leadership style with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-visibility test environment. Excellent communication, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency with common productivity and data tools (e.g., spreadsheets, issue-tracking systems, basic dashboards)
