Description and Requirements
Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) – Product Assurance is seeking Test Engineer to drive server performance validation across compute, memory, storage, network, and GPU domains. This role combines hands-on performance analysis with validation strategy, project ownership, and customer-facing collaboration.
This position is intended for an experienced validation or performance engineer who can independently manage assigned validation scope while collaborating closely with experienced team members and cross-functional partners. We also welcome system integration test or validation engineers with substantial performance-related experience who are interested in specializing in performance validation, with opportunities and technical support to deepen their performance analysis capabilities.Key Responsibilities
- Own server performance validation activities across compute, memory, storage, network, GPU, and other subsystems.
- Perform performance analysis, regression analysis, issue isolation, bottleneck identification, and root cause investigation across different platforms, configurations, operating systems, and product generations.
- Execute and manage performance validation cycles, ensuring test coverage, execution quality, and milestone delivery.
- Produce technical reports documenting test configurations, methodologies, results, observations, bottlenecks, and recommendations.
- Identify test tooling, data processing, and automation requirements, and work with the internal automation team to define scope, priorities, and acceptance criteria.
- Design and review performance validation plans, benchmark methodologies, workload coverage, and acceptance criteria based on product architecture and customer requirements.
- Review customer requirements and platform design documents; define expected performance behavior and validation strategy accordingly.
- Plan and control test schedule and resources where applicable.
- Track and highlight performance defects, technical risks, validation gaps, and overall status to project teams and management.
- Represent performance validation in internal design reviews, issue-triage discussions, and customer-facing project meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in server system validation, system integration testing, or performance engineering, covering server platforms, storage systems, or AI infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience in server performance testing, with demonstrated technical depth in at least one of the following domains:
- Ø Compute and Memory: CPU performance, memory bandwidth, and NUMA behavior (e.g. STREAM, HPL, SPEC CPU)
- Ø Storage: Throughput, IOPS, and latency across different storage devices (e.g. fio, IOmeter)
- Ø Network: Throughput, latency, and tuning validation across Linux and Windows environments (e.g. NTttcp, iperf2/iperf3)
- Ability to investigate performance degradation beyond benchmark execution, including regression analysis, issue isolation, cross-platform comparison, and optimization recommendations.
- Experience in test planning, benchmark coverage definition, schedule control, and resource coordination across cross-functional teams.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows server environments, including common system resource monitoring tools (e.g. htop, iostat).
- Working knowledge of shell scripting, batch, or PowerShell for test execution and data handling.
- Ability to communicate technical requirements, findings, and risks in English, both written and verbal, in a cross-site working environment.
Preferred
Experience with GPU server platforms such as NVIDIA GB200, GB300, or MGX-based systems, including GPU topology, NVLink, RDMA/RoCE, or GPU-to-network performance behavior, and related tools such as NCCL Tests, NVBandwidth, or DCGM.
Experience validating ARM-based server platforms in addition to x86.
Experience with performance data analysis, result aggregation, and visualization for regression tracking.
Ability to independently analyze performance behavior and communicate technical conclusions to customers and stakeholders with strong technical backgrounds, with learning agility to adopt new server technologies.
Advanced English proficiency for direct customer engagement.
