Telecom Project Coordinator, Telco Support
Description
We are seeking a driven and technically sharp IT Network Systems Engineer to join our Telecom & WAN Infrastructure team. This role is critical to supporting Tesla's rapidly expanding infrastructure programs, Colocation deployments, and high-bandwidth connectivity initiatives. The ideal candidate is a self starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple high priority projects simultaneously, and has deep experience in carrier circuit procurement, WAN design, and enterprise telecom operations.
This position will directly inherit and manage an active portfolio of telecom projects across North America and will serve as a key contributor to Tesla's next-generation connectivity strategy.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end colo circuit deployments, including quoting, ordering, contract negotiation, and installation coordination across multiple colocation providers
- Coordinate cross-connects, LOAs, and DMARC extensions at colocation facilities. Track and manage circuit lifecycle using internal IPAM and site-tracking platforms
- Support WAN PoP buildouts requiring multi-carrier, high-capacity connectivity
- Lead circuit procurement and WAN connectivity planning for high-priority operational hub locations across the United States and Canada
- Manage primary circuit deployments with full path and carrier diversity in accordance with Tesla’s connectivity standards
- Coordinate tertiary backup connectivity options, including point-to-point, dedicated internet access, and alternative last-mile solutions
- Engage internal stakeholders including WAN, NetOps, Real Estate, and Construction to align circuit readiness with facility build timelines
- Track and manage circuit tickets from initial quote through order execution, installation, and cutover
- Support upload circuit deployments across new market locations in coordination with internal approval workflows, and manage circuit upgrade projects at Tesla operational locations to meet evolving bandwidth and upload requirements
- Coordinate DIA upgrades at sites to meet throughput thresholds driven by internal program demands, and work with local site contacts, ISPs, and internal NetOps teams to execute cutovers with minimal downtime
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience in enterprise telecom, WAN infrastructure, or network engineering
- Hands-on experience with carrier circuit procurement across circuit types including DIA, P2P, Wave/DWDM, and MPLS
- Proficiency with ticketing platforms such as Jira for telecom order management and order lifecycle tracking
- Proficiency with IPAM/DCIM platforms such as NetBox for circuit lifecycle and inventory management
- Strong understanding of WAN topology, BGP peering, IP transit, and point-to-point circuit design
- Experience managing multi-site, multi-carrier telecom projects simultaneously
- Ability to evaluate circuit pricing, negotiate contract terms, and manage vendor relationships
- Familiarity with circuit diversity requirements (path, equipment, and carrier) and how to validate them via fiber route documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders at all levels
- Exposure to international circuit procurement across APAC, EMEA, and Canada
