The NI Standard Technical Category Manager must have a strong technical background to be able to bridge the gap between engineering, procurement and business operations to optimize the total cost of ownership while fostering innovation, quality and supply. The Standard Categories are: Analog & Power Management, Capacitors, Resistors, Discretes, Logic Ic, Protection, Magnetics, Relays and Switches.

Qualifications

  • Technical Education (engineering degree) with at least 4 years of experience.
  • Works well under pressure with strong time management disciplines.
  • Strategic Thinking, self-starter, innovative
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  • Team Player
  • Focus on the business results.
  • It would be nice if you also had Experience for any of the Standard technologies (eg. Capacitors, Resistors, Discretes, Analog & Power Management, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Provide mitigation solutions for sourcing risks by proposing and supporting qualification of alternate solutions 
  • Drive market research on technology trends and supplier roadmaps, communication to stakeholders, including R&D and Advanced Procurement.
  • Develop technical input for the Category strategy with focus on setting the Preferred Supplier lists including design recommendation for technologies to be used in new designs. Together with the Category Managers, owns and drives implementation of the category strategy.
  • Manage part qualification requests, technical checks, new code reviews, validation and final approval across Nokia technical databases.
  • Standardize, harmonize, promote & re-use approved components across programs & products. Create and update Golden catalogs.
  • Owner of part management through-out life cycle including managing Suppliers Product Change and EOL Notifications.
  • Perform technical supplier and material reviews, support SQM technical audit on site. Provide technical expert know how on request.
  • Find alternate sources to mitigate sourcing risks: cost, end of life, quality issues, shortages.
