Technical Program Manager, Pixel Carrier Engineering

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Pixel Carrier Program Management team’s mission is to plan, deliver, and optimize Pixel Carrier Approvals. Obtaining carrier type-approval is a complex development and integration process involving Carrier ranging, compliance, feature development, extensive testing, engineering samples, issue management, and operations over a development and launch cycle. The team's goal is to manage this process smoothly across Pixel programs, defining and delivering key program milestones to launch on-time with excellence.

The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $163000 - $236000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Drive triage, debug, issue resolution with internal and external teams.
• Collaborate with software teams to prioritize carrier-related features and dependencies.
• Anticipate issues and propose solutions, manage dependencies and cross-functional issues, and identify the need to develop or improve tools/processes.
• Interface with internal teams for Pixel devices in any technical carrier functionality discussions.
• Report carrier status and progress to lead and work together on weekly reports and metrics.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in program management.
• 5 years of industry experience in wireless communications, cellular network infrastructure, radio access network technologies (e.g., 2G/3G/4G/5G), or carrier certification and industry standards.
• Experience with 3GPP standards (e.g., LTE, 5G NR, IMS).

Preferred qualifications:

• 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
• Product development experience in EPM, TPM, hardware engineering, software integration, NPI/Manufacturing, or consumer electronics equivalent experience in product launch readiness.
• Experience leading/landing product launches repeatedly.
  
• Understanding of Wireless Carriers and technologies (e.g., 4G/5G, NSA, and SA), Carrier certification process for smartphones/devices and services, Phone OEM, infrastructure vendor, and Chipset vendor landscape.
