Summary
The Technical Artist - Environment reports to the Technical Art Lead and partners with Environment Art, Lighting, Cinematics, and Engineering teams to create visually compelling game worlds. This role focuses on lighting, scene management, rendering quality, environment pipelines, and cinematic presentation.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Environment Artists, Lighting Artists, and Engineers to deliver visually compelling and performant game environments.
- Develop and optimize lighting, materials, shaders, and rendering features within the game engine.
- Manage scene assembly, world organization, asset integration, and environment optimization across projects.
- Establish and maintain environment production workflows, tools, and asset pipelines.
- Support cinematic content creation through camera setup, shot implementation, and visual presentation.
- Analyze scene performance and identify opportunities to improve rendering efficiency and visual quality.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-assisted workflows, to improve environment production and team efficiency.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of Technical Artist experience in game development.
- Strong understanding of environment art production and real-time rendering workflows.
- Experience with lighting, scene composition, rendering optimization, and visual storytelling.
- Experience working with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Proficiency in Python, Lua, or similar scripting languages.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across Art and Engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience shipping AAA, mobile, or live service games.
- Experience creating or supporting cinematic sequences, camera systems, and in-game presentation.
- Experience with environment asset management, world building, and large-scale scene organization.
- Experience with physically based lighting and modern rendering pipelines.
- Familiarity with virtual production, real-time cinematics, or broadcast-style presentation workflows.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted content creation, automation, or production workflows.
- Passion for football games, stadium presentation, and broadcast-quality visual experiences.
