Technical Account Manager – Energy Engineering & Sustainability Solutions

Role Overview
This role combines energy engineering expertise with customer account management to develop, deliver and optimize energy efficiency and sustainability solutions for commercial, industrial and institutional customers. The role requires strong knowledge of HVAC systems, energy auditing, building performance optimization and customer relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary and detailed energy audits using BEE-certified methodologies, including energy balance analysis, Sankey diagrams and investment-grade recommendations.
- Analyze and optimize chilled water plants, chillers, pumps, cooling towers and AHUs, including VFD applications and control logic.
- Design and evaluate energy conservation measures covering chiller optimization, pump sequencing, HVAC controls, equipment replacement and control-system upgrades.
- Develop technical specifications, project development reports, proposals, business cases and payback/financial analyses.
- Act as the technical point of contact for customer accounts, understand business objectives and translate them into energy and sustainability solutions.
- Present technical recommendations and financial impact to C-suite, facility managers and other key stakeholders.
- Support implementation, commissioning, troubleshooting and post-implementation optimization of Demand Flow, solar, heat pump and thermal storage solutions.
- Prepare Measurement & Verification (M&V) reports comparing baseline and actual energy consumption and savings.
- Develop performance dashboards, trend analysis and executive reports while maintaining project assumptions and measured data.
- Support PM10/PM20/PM40 opportunities, proposal development and sales-pipeline conversion.
- Train facility teams and energy managers and conduct workshops on energy management and BEE certification.
- Collaborate with sales, delivery, finance, support and external partners.
Technical Skills
Strong expertise in energy auditing, HVAC systems, chilled water plants, energy modelling and building performance optimization. Experience with:
Energy Audit: BEE energy audits, power/flue-gas analyzers, thermography, ultrasonic flow meters, energy balance and Sankey analysis.
HVAC & Chilled Water: Centrifugal/screw/reciprocating/absorption chillers, pumps, cooling towers, AHUs, chilled-water loops, decouplers, valves, COP and part-load performance, VFDs.
Energy Modelling & BMS: Chalk Talk, Demand Flow, EnergyPlus/eQuest or equivalent, APOGEE, Desigo Insight or similar BMS platforms, calibrated energy models.
Renewable & Emerging Technologies: Solar PV, net/gross metering, thermal energy storage, heat pumps, heat recovery, waste heat recovery and battery storage.
Standards & Regulations: BEE, ECBC, PAT, ASHRAE 90.1/62.1 and Indian energy regulations/tariff structures.
Professional Competencies
Strong customer engagement, consultative problem solving, presentation and communication skills, project management, advanced Excel/data analysis, financial modelling, NPV/payback analysis, report writing and cross-functional collaboration.
Experience
- 8+ years in energy auditing, HVAC engineering or energy management consulting.
- Experience conducting 100+ energy audits across industrial, commercial or institutional facilities.
- Proven experience in chilled-water plant optimization and energy-saving implementation.
- Experience preparing investment-grade energy audit reports and business cases.
- Experience in facility management, building operations or energy services.
- Knowledge of the Indian energy market, BEE, PAT and ECBC.
- Siemens Demand Flow, Chalk Talk or building automation experience is an advantage.
Education & Certifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering – Mandatory
- BEE Energy Auditor Certification – Mandatory
- HVAC/ASHRAE certification – Preferred
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) – Preferred
- MBA/Business Management certification – Preferred
Key Performance Indicators
Energy audits completed, energy savings identified, customer satisfaction/NPS, PM10→PM20→PM40 conversion, proposal win rate, accuracy of predicted vs. actual savings, repeat business/customer retention and capability-building initiatives.
Working Environment
Primarily customer-facing and field-based, with 60–70% travel for audits, assessments and implementation. The role also involves office work, flexible customer-driven schedules and collaboration with global Siemens teams.
