The opportunity:

We are looking for an energetic, highly motivated leader to establish and lead our Legal Data Analysis team in Pune. This is a unique opportunity to help build a new team and expand an established global function into India.

As the first Team Leader for this function in Pune, you will play an important role in building the team's capabilities, culture, and operating model. You will partner closely with established Legal Data Analysis teams and leaders in the United States to develop a deep understanding of our products, customers, legal data, and existing workflows and translate that knowledge into a successful and sustainable operation in Pune.

You will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, coaching, and developing a team of Legal Data Analysts while ensuring consistent, high-quality product delivery. You will also establish effective processes and ways of working that enable collaboration across Pune and U.S.-based teams.

This role requires someone who is comfortable operating in a developing environment, can create structure where needed, and is excited about building a high-performing team while maintaining strong connections with colleagues and stakeholders globally.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Establish and lead the Legal Data Analysis team in Pune, including supporting recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of new team members
  • Build a strong team culture focused on collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and delivering customer value
  • Partner closely with U.S.-based Legal Data Analysis leaders and subject matter experts to facilitate effective knowledge transfer and develop expertise within the Pune team
  • Manage the day-to-day leadership and performance of the team while establishing the processes and operating practices necessary for the team's long-term success
  • Ensure consistent, timely, and high-quality product and data delivery
  • Attract, coach, develop, and retain Legal Data Analysts who become experts in their areas through processing time-sensitive, high-quality data, data analysis, data management, and project management
  • Develop the team's understanding of U.S. legal systems, legal research, Bloomberg Industry Group products, customers, and relevant data sets
  • Build processes, standards, and quality controls that enable delivery of data that meets or exceeds client SLAs and supports superior customer service
  • Establish effective communication and collaboration across teams and time zones, particularly between Pune and U.S.-based colleagues
  • Build strong relationships with Senior Leaders, Business Managers, Data, Engineering, Product, and external vendors
  • Identify operational challenges and opportunities and develop scalable solutions as the Pune team grows
  • Drive product enhancements, data initiatives, and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Use data and metrics to understand team performance, identify trends, and inform decisions
  • Develop the team's subject matter and data expertise in alignment with industry best practices and emerging trends
  • Proactively identify gaps and opportunities for future innovation, including opportunities to use automation, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies to improve our products and workflows

You’ll need to have:

  • 3+ years of relevant leadership or people-management experience, including experience coaching and developing professionals
  • LL.B. or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution
  • Professional experience in the legal field, legal research, legal data, legal publishing, legal operations, or a related environment
  • Strong understanding of legal research, legal information products, and analysis. Experience working with U.S. legal information or the U.S. legal system is advantageous but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to build, scale, or significantly evolve a team, function, process, or operation
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across different locations, cultures, functions, and levels of an organization
  • Proven ability to establish credibility and build influential relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong people leadership skills, including the ability to set clear expectations, provide meaningful feedback, coach employees, and develop subject matter expertise within a team
  • Ability to operate effectively in an evolving environment, bringing structure and clarity to new or ambiguous situations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently and deliver against commitments
  • A thoughtful and logical approach to problem-solving, combined with strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to identify issues, evaluate performance, and inform decisions
  • A creative and flexible approach to problem-solving with a strong solution-oriented mindset
  • Interest in emerging technologies, including generative AI and large language models (LLMs), and their application to legal data and information products
  • Demonstrated continuous career progression within an organization

We’d love to see:

  • Experience supporting U.S. legal, legal research, legal publishing, or legal data products
  • Experience working in a global organization and collaborating regularly with teams based in the United States
