Tax Compliance Program Manager, Tax and Account Compliance
We are seeking a Tax Compliance Program Manager to support the First Line of Defense (1LoD) for EU/UK tax compliance across Amazon’s Marketplace business. In this role, you will execute against defined risk workstreams, support governance processes, and deliver control activities arising from EU and UK tax regulations. Working within established risk frameworks and under the guidance of senior programme leaders, you will contribute to ensuring the business operates within clearly defined risk appetite and compliance standards.
You will support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of tax compliance risks across Amazon’s Global Selling ecosystem. This includes executing operational controls aligned to EU/UK regulatory requirements, maintaining risk documentation, tracking programme deliverables, and escalating emerging risks through appropriate channels. You will monitor regulatory developments and assess their operational implications, contributing analysis that informs programme-level decisions.
Your focus will be on maintaining preventative controls, supporting data integrity across tax and identity systems, and producing audit-ready documentation. Working cross-functionally with Legal, Policy, Product, Tax, and Data Science partners, you will execute against programme plans, support the resolution of systemic issues, and contribute to risk-based control frameworks. You will ensure compliance activities within your workstreams are proportionate, risk-calibrated, and delivered on time and to the expected quality bar.
Key job responsibilities
• Own defined workstreams within EU and UK tax compliance programmes, delivering risk assessments and control activities on time and to quality standards
• Execute risk assessments using established methodologies, documenting findings clearly and escalating issues that exceed defined thresholds
• Analyze EU/UK tax compliance regulations (e.g., VAT, DAC7, JSL, Deemed Reseller) and their implications for Amazon sellers, translating requirements into actionable deliverables
• Support the development and maintenance of risk models and detection mechanisms to identify non-compliant or fraudulent seller behaviour related to tax obligations
• Collaborate with legal, policy, finance, tax, tech, and product teams to execute programme plans and deliver operational controls for new and existing programmes
• Track key risk indicators (KRIs) and programme metrics, producing status reports and flagging deviations to programme leadership
• Prepare risk assessments, programme updates, and supporting materials for senior leadership reviews
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and contribute to continuous improvement of risk and programme processes
A day in the life
You are joining a global team spread across the US, EU, Japan, and India. You will partner closely with a Tax Governance manager in the UK and collaborate heavily with Risk teams based in India and the EU to ensure Amazon’s compliance controls are in the best possible working order.
Your days will blend regulatory analysis, cross-functional delivery, and stakeholder coordination across multiple time zones. One morning you are reviewing control effectiveness with the 2nd Line of Defence; the afternoon you are in a working session with EU 3P Marketplace partners assessing the impact of a new VAT regulation on sellers. The next day you are preparing materials for a senior leadership review or troubleshooting a data integrity issue with tech partners in Seattle.
No two days are the same, but the constant is pace, impact, and global reach.
