SW QA Engineer - Simcenter Flightstream
We are Siemens
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our software.
Siemens Digital Industries Software is seeking a talented and driven Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Quality Assurance team and contribute to the continued growth and development of our industry-leading CAE/CFD solutions.
In this role, you will contribute across the software development lifecycle of Simcenter Flightstream, helping ensure the quality, accuracy, reliability, and robustness of capabilities used for aerodynamic, hydrodynamic, and multidisciplinary analysis.
As a key member of the Quality Assurance team, you will independently design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases, validate software capabilities delivered by the Development team, and analyze complex technical results. You will combine strong engineering knowledge with a quality mindset to identify issues, assess risks, improve test coverage, and continuously enhance testing tools and processes.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in aerodynamics, CFD, or aircraft design, combined with excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and programming ability.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate complex engineering capabilities: Design and develop comprehensive test cases to evaluate aerodynamic, hydrodynamic, and multidisciplinary capabilities, ensuring software results are accurate, reliable, and consistent with expected engineering behavior.
- Develop automated regression testing: Create, maintain, and improve automated regression tests to identify unintended changes and ensure the stability of Simcenter Flightstream capabilities across software releases.
- Analyze and communicate technical results: Analyze test results, investigate unexpected behavior, and prepare clear technical reports using visualizations, key performance indicators, and other relevant data.
- Ensure release quality: Thoroughly test software releases, assess quality and technical risks, document test execution results, and communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
- Investigate and manage defects: Identify, reproduce, document, and track software defects; communicate risks effectively and collaborate with Development teams to support timely investigation and resolution.
- Improve quality engineering practices: Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, automation, tools, and processes, contributing to the continuous improvement of the overall QA approach.
- Collaborate globally: Work effectively with a globally distributed and cross-functional team, contributing technical expertise and participating in projects across Quality Assurance, Development, and other engineering functions.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong academic background or professional experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, aircraft design, or related engineering disciplines.
- Solid understanding of aerodynamics and CFD workflows, including the ability to analyze engineering results and identify unexpected or potentially incorrect behavior.
- Knowledge of panel methods, vortex-lattice methods, or other reduced-order aerodynamic methods.
- Experience designing, executing, or analyzing complex engineering test cases, simulations, or validation studies.
- Programming or scripting experience using Python, C++, Java, or similar languages, with the ability to develop or maintain automated testing and analysis solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills, combined with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with Simcenter Flightstream and/or Simcenter STAR-CCM+, including the ability to create, configure, analyze, and troubleshoot complex simulation cases.
- Experience with software quality assurance, validation, verification, or regression testing of engineering or scientific software.
- Experience managing or troubleshooting Windows and Linux test environments.
- Experience creating technical reports, visualizations, and engineering performance indicators.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a globally distributed and matrix organization.
- Strong ownership mindset, self-motivation, and commitment to continuous learning and technical development.
