SW QA Engineer Associate - Simcenter X (AltairOne Apps)
We are Siemens
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our software.
Siemens Digital Industries Software is looking for a Software QA Engineer to join our Engineering Intelligence team and help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of cloud-delivered engineering applications used by global manufacturers.
You will work with quality engineers, developers, product owners, and engineering domain experts to define and execute end-to-end workflows across SaaS, OnPrem, and High Performance Computing (HPC) environments. The role combines software quality engineering with engineering simulation workflows, cloud technologies, automation, and complex distributed systems.
You will play a key role in ensuring that our applications not only function correctly, but also deliver reliable and credible engineering results.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute comprehensive testing: Plan and perform functional, integration, system, exploratory, end-to-end, and performance testing for complex engineering and cloud-delivered applications.
- Validate engineering workflows: Test simulation-driven workflows from model setup and execution through solver behavior and result validation, ensuring both functional correctness and engineering credibility.
- Build test automation: Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites using modern frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar technologies to improve regression coverage and release efficiency.
- Test cloud and distributed applications: Validate web-based and cloud-native applications across microservices, event-driven architectures, and distributed environments.
- Analyze and troubleshoot quality issues: Investigate failures, defects, performance bottlenecks, and unexpected behaviors; perform root-cause analysis and verify fixes.
- Work with CI/CD and engineering infrastructure: Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and troubleshoot test environments across Windows, Linux, containers, and Kubernetes-based environments.
- Drive quality across the product lifecycle: Collaborate with developers, architects, product owners, and domain experts to define acceptance criteria, identify quality risks, and continuously improve test strategy and coverage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- + years of hands-on software QA/testing experience involving technically complex software, with strong experience in test planning, execution, defect analysis, and validation.
- Strong experience with web/UI test automation using Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux/Unix environments, with strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of microservices, event-driven architectures, and distributed applications, with exposure to troubleshooting Kubernetes-based environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in Agile teams.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with engineering simulation, CAE, CAD, or other scientific/technical software, including understanding of simulation workflows beyond basic tool operation.
- Strong understanding of simulation concepts such as meshing, physics modeling, solver configuration, convergence, numerical stability, and result validation.
- Experience with API testing using tools such as Postman and performance testing using JMeter, Gatling, or similar.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and testing applications deployed in cloud environments.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including debugging applications and test environments in containerized environments.
- Experience testing HPC environments, including Linux clusters, MPI-based workloads, and job schedulers such as Slurm or PBS.
- Experience with performance, scalability, reliability, or security testing of distributed or cloud-based applications.
