Supply Chain Operations Manager
Description
Tesla is looking for a Supply Chain Operations Manager to launch programs on time, surface the bottlenecks that put those launches at risk, and drive them to resolution. This role is ideal for a structured problem solver who can take ambiguous, cross-functional issues, turn them into clear workstreams, and hold action owners accountable until the work is closed.
The ideal candidate brings a consulting background — or equivalent experience solving diverse problems across many projects — with the executive communication skills to brief leadership and the working-level presence to operate across the organization. You will run a diverse set of initiatives in parallel, distill noise into the few issues that matter, and make sure business needs are met in a fast-moving supply chain environment.
Responsibilities
- Program launch execution: Drive supply chain workstreams so programs launch on time. Identify critical-path bottlenecks across suppliers, internal teams, and sites, and stay on them until they are resolved
- Ambiguity to action: Take unstructured, cross-functional problems and distill them into scoped projects with owners, timelines, and success criteria. Follow up with action owners until issues are closed
- Executive communication: Own leadership communication on key issues, risks, and progress. Distill complex operational noise into clear, decision-ready updates for executives while remaining close to the working level
- Cross-functional problem solving: Partner with Procurement, Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, and suppliers to diagnose root causes, align on trade-offs, and implement durable fixes
- Portfolio management: Run multiple initiatives in parallel without dropping business-critical work. Prioritize against launch dates, supply risk, and operational impact so business needs stay met
- Operating cadence: Stand up the forums, trackers, and escalation paths needed to keep launches and issue resolution moving. Surface trends early and drive continuous improvement
- Influence without authority: Build trust across functions and levels. Drive alignment and accountability in a matrixed environment where you may not own every resource
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in supply chain operations, program management, or a similarly structured, cross-functional problem-solving role
- Consulting background strongly preferred — experience solving diverse problems across multiple projects, with demonstrated executive communication
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguous problems, structure them into functional workstreams, and drive action owners to resolution
- Track record of launching programs or delivering complex initiatives on time in a fast-paced operational environment
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including briefing executives and working effectively with all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage a diverse set of initiatives in parallel while keeping business needs, priorities, and stakeholders aligned
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills (issue trees, root cause analysis, 5-Why, data-driven recommendations)
- Comfort operating in a high-ambiguity, high-velocity manufacturing or supply chain environment
- Experience influencing cross-functional partners without direct authority
