Supply Chain Manager, Semiconductor Assembly & Test

Tesla is looking for a Supply Chain Manager to own the supply base for semiconductor test, assembly, and validation hardware supporting Tesla’s in-house silicon programs. This role covers OSAT partners, wafer sort and final test capacity, package materials, substrates, and the test and validation hardware that enable chip probe, OSAT execution, and system validation. 

You will own supply, cost, and delivery from wafer-out through finished goods, and will work directly with Engineering and a global supply base across Asia. This is a highly strategic category that gates silicon bring-up, qualification, and production ramp.

Responsibilities

• Own RFIs and RFQs for OSAT, wafer sort, final test, package materials, substrates, and test hardware, ensuring all commercial and technical terms are agreed upon and documented 

• Ensure contracts (NDAs, General Terms, Statements of Work, and capacity agreements) are drafted, negotiated, and executed with key supplier partners 

• Manage relationships with OSAT and test service partners for Tesla silicon, including sample builds, tooling, commercial terms, capacity and demand planning, and mass production ramps 

• Secure and manage test cell, prober, and assembly capacity against rolling demand forecasts 

• Own sourcing and lifecycle management of test and validation hardware, including probe cards, load boards, sockets, handlers, and validation systems 

• Drive continuous cost reduction and cost avoidance through price negotiations, test time reduction, multi-site conversion, insertion elimination, and dual sourcing 

• Cover all aspects of commodity management, including business plans, market intelligence, technology roadmaps, cost modeling, and sourcing strategies 

• Manage material flow across wafer receipt, die bank, substrates, WIP, and finished goods; own inventory liability and excess and obsolescence exposure 

• Manage supplier relationships and performance, including dispute resolution, supplier scorecards, periodic business reviews, and executive engagement 

• Participate in DFM reviews, change control meetings, and technical discussions with Engineering, driving decisions from a cost and supply perspective 

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience

• 5+ years of semiconductor supply chain, sourcing, or commodity management experience with direct ownership of OSAT and/or test services 

• Demonstrated experience managing assembly and test capacity, material flow, and die bank at production volume 

• Proven experience in strategic deal making and negotiation covering pricing, capacity agreements, NRE, and service contracts 

• Working knowledge of backend semiconductor manufacturing, including wafer sort, bump and probe, package types (FC-BGA, WLCSP, SiP, advanced packaging), final test, and system-level test 

• Familiarity with test hardware and ATE platforms sufficient to plan lead times and hold suppliers accountable 

• Strong understanding of costing concepts, including cost reduction strategies and should-cost modeling 

• Ability to navigate ambiguity, collect facts and data, evaluate alternatives, and communicate clearly with cross-functional organizations 

• Established OSAT supplier relationships in Asia preferred / Automotive qualification experience (AEC-Q100, PPAP) preferred 

• Ability to travel internationally as required

Expected Compensation

$132,000 - $240,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
