JOB DETAILS:

  • Location: San Jose, California, USA
  • Onsite: This role requires the student to work full time (40 hours a week), online work structure throughout the duration of the co-op/intern term.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

We are seeking highly motivated Photonics Design and Engineering co-op to join our team. In this role –

  • We will assign you responsibilities related to the design and testing of optical transceivers.
  • Your responsibility will include data analysis to understand key limiters of transceiver performance and understand the mechanisms behind those limiting metrics. Your inputs should enable modeling of these non-idealities and eventually get good model to measurement correlation.
  • You will be collaborating closely with Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC)/Electronics IC (EIC) designers and System Engineering teams to successfully deliver Specification compliant Optical transceivers
  • You will be expected to organize and present comprehensive technical reports of your findings to be shared widely with the team.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program, majoring in photonics or optoelectronics engineering, physics, electrical engineering or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of optical transceiver design, fiber optics, RF modulation, and networking systems.
  • Fundamental understanding of optical transceiver performance such as TDECQ and receiver sensitivity, with component dependencies on multi-physical (optical, electrical, thermal) domains
  • Experience with measurement techniques for optical transceivers and systems (e.g., Sampling oscilloscopes, Optical spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers).
  • Experience with data analysis tools.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
