Strategic Partnerships Development Manager, APAC, Frontier and Applied AI, Education, Research and Co-partnerships
This Strategic Partnerships Development Manager for APAC will be responsible for driving high-impact research collaborations and scaling the Science AI portfolio across the region. Bridging the gap between cutting-edge AI research and real-world scientific breakthroughs.
You will lead a unified, cross-product area (Google Research, DeepMind, Labs, and Cloud) strategy to deploy frontier tools like AI Co-Scientist, Empirical Research Assistant (ERA), and Agentic Science Kit (ASK). From securing Lighthouse partnerships with the universities to triaging academic pipelines for complex data-sharing and wet-lab validation, this role is critical to advancing Google's mission to accelerate scientific progress. You will lead complex cross-functional alignment and translate cutting-edge AI research into actionable partnership strategies. You will have experience negotiating sophisticated Research Collaboration Agreements and navigating intricate data-sharing frameworks within complex scientific domains (e.g., genomics, biology, physics) and you will have passion for advocating emerging Science AI tools, operating in ambiguity to establish "first-of-its-kind" Trusted Tester and Early Access programs with leading academic and research institutes. Additionally you will have exceptional stakeholder management skills to influence product road maps and drive a unified "One Google" approach to scientific ecosystem engagement.
Responsibilities
- Drive a unified "One Google" approach across Research, DeepMind, Labs, and Cloud to establish scalable engagement models for the APAC research institutions.
- Lead Early Access programs for frontier tools (e.g., ERA, AI Co-Scientist, ASK), securing Lighthouse partnerships across APAC to validate performance and accelerate adoption.
- Lead end-to-end negotiations for complex Research Collaboration Agreements, autonomously resolving intricate data-sharing, intellectual property, and regulatory frameworks.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in genomics and multimodal biology to evaluate, vet, and progress partners from ideation to wet-lab validation.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, Legal, and regional Cloud teams to manage partnerships from pilot to scale, orchestrating high-impact initiatives like Science AI Hackathons.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management, consulting, or investment banking, in the consumer electronics, auto, OEMs, telecom, e-commerce/retail, apps, ads, gaming, or technology industries.
- Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across all levels of management.
- Experience managing agreements or partnerships.
Preferred qualifications:
- 10 years of experience in business development, partnerships, or management consulting within AI/ML technology, scientific research, healthcare, life sciences, or academic sectors.
- Experience establishing and navigating partnerships with sophisticated scientific partners, academic institutions, and government agencies.
- Experience negotiating and executing complex agreements, such as Research Collaboration Agreements (RCAs), and navigating intricate data-sharing frameworks.
- Experience driving complex, cross-functional partnerships and collaborating effectively with stakeholders such as Legal, Product Management, Engineering, Clinical, and Regulatory teams.
- Ability to manage relationships with product and engineering teams to reach consensus on ideal product outlook, MVP goals, and Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy.
