OverviewAs a Strategic Account Executive, you will lead Microsoft's relationship with one of our most strategic Pharmaceutical customers (headquartered in New Jersey). This is a director-level role, responsible for driving long-term business growth by building trusted relationships with senior business and technology leaders, identifying opportunities across the enterprise, and orchestrating Microsoft resources to deliver measurable business outcomes.

You will engage with C-level executives, business decision makers, and industry leaders to help transform how the organization leverages technology to achieve their strategic priorities. Success in this role requires a blend of healthcare and life sciences industry expertise, executive presence, consultative selling skills, and the ability to navigate complex enterprise environments.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives and Board-level stakeholders, helping them understand how technology investments drive measurable business value and strategic outcomes. You will leverage financial acumen to lead discussions around value realization, ROI, and business impact, while expanding executive relationships beyond traditional IT organizations and orchestrating cross-functional teams to accelerate customer success.

This role requires candidates to reside within a daily commuting distance of the customer's locations in New Jersey and Philadelphia and be available to spend significant time onsite with the customer.


Responsibilities

Strategic Account Leadership

  • Develop and execute a multi-year account strategy that drives business growth, customer success, and long-term partnership outcomes.
  • Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with C-suite executives, business leaders, and key decision makers.
  • Identify and cultivate opportunities across business functions, expanding Microsoft's influence beyond IT stakeholders.
  • Drive stakeholder mapping and executive engagement strategies that strengthen Microsoft's position across the account.

Customer Engagement & Industry Expertise

  • Leverage Healthcare, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, MedTech, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain expertise to engage customers in business-focused conversations.
  • Connect customer business priorities to technology-enabled outcomes, demonstrating an understanding of industry trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor who can translate complex business objectives into transformational technology strategies.
  • Facilitate executive discussions focused on business value, operational performance, growth, innovation, and financial outcomes.

Orchestration & Collaboration

  • Lead virtual teams across Microsoft to bring the best expertise, resources, and solutions to the customer.
  • Coordinate executive sponsorship, technical specialists, partners, and industry experts to drive customer impact.
  • Foster collaboration across internal stakeholders to accelerate decision making and execution.

Sales Excellence

  • Create and advance strategic opportunities that drive customer value and business growth.
  • Develop compelling business cases and executive-level value propositions.
  • Execute complex sales motions while maintaining focus on long-term customer outcomes and relationship development.
  • Position Microsoft as a trusted partner by delivering insights, challenging conventional thinking, and helping customers achieve strategic objectives.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience working in a manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or technology industry and/or driving digital transformation OR Master's Degree AND 9+ years experience working in a manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or technology industry and/or driving digital transformation OR 13+ years experience in a manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or technology industry and/or driving digital transformation OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years experience making recommendations to and/or collaborating with mid-to-senior level executives.
  • 8+ years experience closing large, complex agreements/deals.

Other Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling into or supporting customers within Pharmaceuticals, MedTech, or Health & Life Sciences industries.
  • Deep financial and business acumen, with experience leading discussions on value realization, business case development, ROI, and the financial impact of strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional enterprise sales opportunities and building executive relationships across multiple business functions beyond IT, including operations, finance, supply chain, manufacturing, and R&D.
  • Background in consulting or enterprise technology organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility with and present to senior executives, including Board-level stakeholders.
  • Experience working with cloud, AI, data, security, or digital transformation initiatives.

Strategic Account Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,000 - $222,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $170,300 - $239,800 per year.
