Description and Requirements
We are seeking an experienced Storage & Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) Product Line Manager to lead the worldwide strategy, portfolio development, positioning, and go-to-market execution for our enterprise storage and hyperconverged infrastructure portfolio.
This is a high-impact, globally scoped product leadership role responsible for translating evolving enterprise infrastructure requirements into compelling, differentiated storage and HCI solutions. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in enterprise storage and software-defined infrastructure with strong product management, go-to-market, commercial, and customer engagement skills.
The role requires demonstrated expertise across the Lenovo enterprise storage portfolio, including Lenovo solutions based on NetApp technology, as well as Lenovo ThinkAgile HCI solutions leveraging Nutanix, Microsoft, and VMware technologies.
The Product Line Manager will work closely with offering group, supply chain, sales, marketing, operations, channel partners, technology partners, and customers to define portfolio strategy, drive product launches, enable the field, and accelerate growth across worldwide markets outside of China.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the worldwide product-line strategy for enterprise storage and HCI solutions, including portfolio definition, roadmap development, launches, lifecycle management, and end-of-life planning.
- Develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market strategies to drive revenue growth, market share, customer adoption, and competitive differentiation.
- Define product requirements and roadmap priorities based on customer needs, technology evolution, competitive dynamics, partner roadmaps, and business objectives.
- Maintain deep technical expertise across enterprise storage architectures, including:
- SAN and NAS storage
- Block, file, and object storage
- All-flash and hybrid storage architectures
- NVMe and NVMe-over-Fabrics
- Storage networking and Fibre Channel
- Data protection, backup, replication, and disaster recovery
- Storage virtualization and software-defined storage
- Enterprise data management
- Storage performance, availability, scalability, and resiliency
- Develop and maintain expert-level knowledge of Lenovo enterprise storage solutions and the NetApp technology ecosystem, including relevant hardware, software, architectures, and customer use cases.
- Maintain strong technical and commercial knowledge of the Lenovo ThinkAgile portfolio and its HCI offerings based on:
- Nutanix
- Microsoft
- VMware
- Understand the technical and commercial positioning of HCI versus traditional three-tier infrastructure, public cloud, and emerging hybrid-cloud architectures.
- Partner closely with Nutanix, Microsoft, VMware, NetApp, and other strategic technology partners to understand roadmaps, develop joint solutions, influence partner direction, and execute joint go-to-market initiatives.
- Translate complex storage and HCI technologies into clear customer value propositions, competitive positioning, and sales messaging.
- Serve as a senior subject-matter expert for worldwide sales organizations, solution architects, systems engineers, channel partners, and strategic customers.
- Work directly with enterprise customers to understand infrastructure requirements, modernization initiatives, virtualization strategies, application needs, and data-management challenges.
- Support strategic customer engagements, executive briefings, technical workshops, proof-of-concept activities, solution demonstrations, and major sales opportunities.
- Develop competitive intelligence and clearly articulate differentiation against competing storage vendors, HCI providers, cloud platforms, and other infrastructure OEMs.
- Enable technical sales teams with product training, competitive battlecards, presentations, reference architectures, solution briefs, demonstrations, and customer-facing content.
- Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to ensure products deliver the required performance, availability, scalability, security, manageability, and total cost of ownership.
- Partner with marketing to develop product launches, campaigns, events, technical content, customer references, and thought-leadership programs.
- Establish and manage product-line business metrics including revenue, bookings, pipeline, market share, pricing, profitability, attach rates, and forecast accuracy.
- Drive cross-functional alignment across worldwide sales, product management, engineering, operations, finance, marketing, alliances, and executive leadership.
- Represent the company at major industry conferences, customer events, partner meetings, and technology forums.
- Monitor emerging trends in enterprise storage, virtualization, HCI, hybrid cloud, Kubernetes, cyber resilience, AI infrastructure, software-defined infrastructure, and data-center modernization.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in product management, product marketing, solutions architecture, technical sales, business development, or related roles within enterprise storage, servers, HCI, virtualization, or data-center infrastructure.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing go-to-market strategies for complex enterprise infrastructure products.
- Strong technical understanding of modern enterprise storage architectures and data-center infrastructure.
- Required: significant experience with Lenovo enterprise storage solutions, including Lenovo's NetApp-based storage portfolio.
- Required: strong knowledge of Lenovo ThinkAgile hyperconverged infrastructure solutions.
- Required: demonstrated experience with one or more of the major ThinkAgile technology ecosystems, with strong preference for experience across Nutanix, Microsoft, and VMware.
- Deep understanding of virtualization, HCI, software-defined infrastructure, and hybrid-cloud architectures.
- Strong understanding of storage technologies including SAN, NAS, block and file storage, NVMe, Fibre Channel, storage networking, replication, backup, and data protection.
- Proven experience working directly with enterprise technical sales teams, solution architects, systems engineers, channel partners, and customers.
- Ability to engage credibly with infrastructure architects, storage administrators, IT executives, engineers, sales teams, and technology partners.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional organizations without direct authority.
- Strong commercial and business judgment, with the ability to balance technical requirements, customer needs, competitive dynamics, revenue objectives, pricing, and profitability.
- Ability to operate effectively in a complex partner ecosystem involving OEM, software, virtualization, and infrastructure technology partners.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with the Lenovo ThinkAgile product portfolio and associated reference architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Nutanix AHV and Nutanix Cloud Platform.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure Stack HCI / Azure Local and Microsoft virtualization technologies.
- Experience with VMware vSphere, VMware Cloud Foundation, and related VMware infrastructure technologies.
- Strong knowledge of NetApp ONTAP and enterprise storage management.
- Experience with Lenovo ThinkSystem storage platforms.
- Knowledge of Fibre Channel, Ethernet storage networking, NVMe-oF, and modern data-center networking.
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized application infrastructure.
- Understanding of cyber-resilient storage, ransomware protection, immutable backups, and modern data-protection architectures.
- Experience with enterprise workload consolidation, virtualization refresh, and data-center modernization initiatives.
- Experience working with large enterprises, managed service providers, cloud service providers, or channel partners.
- Experience developing validated designs, reference architectures, solution bundles, or partner solutions.
- Experience managing a global product portfolio across multiple geographic regions.
- MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable whiteboarding a storage or HCI architecture with an infrastructure architect, discussing a technology roadmap with a strategic partner, developing competitive positioning with product leadership, enabling a technical sales organization, and presenting the business case for infrastructure modernization to a Fortune 500 CIO.
