As a Mechanical Engineer, you will develop and modernize auxiliary systems for steam turbines as part of an international engineering team. You will take responsibility for solutions involving hydraulic actuators and associated systems—from technical analysis and design documentation to installation and commissioning support. Through your work, you will help customers operate their plants safely, reliably, and efficiently while contributing to a secure global energy supply.

  • Take end-to-end ownership of assigned engineering tasks, plan and prioritize the work independently, make sound technical decisions within the agreed scope, and proactively communicate risks, dependencies, and required support.
  • Analyze and verify steam turbine auxiliary systems, particularly hydraulic actuators and their associated systems, during modernization and service projects.
  • Support field service teams and customers of our existing steam turbine fleet with questions related to hydraulic systems, actuators, and their components.
  • Plan, develop, and document modernization solutions, and implement the associated design changes.
  • Prepare component specifications for actuator components, hydraulic power units, and low-pressure hydraulic components; perform engineering calculations; and create drawings, bills of materials, and system diagrams.
  • Provide technical support to project teams and site personnel in resolving issues during installation and commissioning.
  • Undertake occasional on-site assignments at power plants to support technical assessments, installation, and commissioning activities. These assignments may require domestic or international travel depending on the project.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Masters’s in mechanical engineering, process engineering equivalent technical qualification combined with 5+ Years of relevant professional experience in power plant or industrial plant engineering.
  • Good knowledge of steam turbine operation in power plants.
  • Good knowledge of hydraulic actuators, hydraulic systems, low-pressure hydraulic components, piping, instrumentation and control technology, as well as their interplay in systems and plants.
  • Professional experience with system engineering calculations, such as pressure-loss, valve, thermal, and actuator-sizing calculations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required. Experience with engineering and product-lifecycle applications such as SAP, Teamcenter, AutoCAD, or COMOS is an advantage.
  • Business-fluent written and spoken English; German language skills are an advantage.
  • Experience in project management and interface coordination, together with strong communication skills, is an advantage.

About the Team

Our innovative team delivers service work and modernization projects for steam turbine auxiliary systems. In this role, you will work closely with specialists in mechanical design, instrumentation and control, project management, procurement, manufacturing, field service, and commissioning. You will also collaborate with gas turbine auxiliary-system experts across our engineering hubs in Muelheim, Berlin, Orlando, Gurgaon, and Charlotte.

The increasing role of renewable energies, the rising demand for energy, and the ageing infrastructure require a modernization and renovation of the existing grid. We want to support the growing business with grid stabilization products like synchronous condensers.
