Staff Software Engineer, Wireless Connectivity Lead, Pixel Core Engineering

The Pixel Core Engineering team is seeking an experienced wireless technology professional to serve as the Wireless Connectivity Lead for the Google Pixel portfolio.This role will apply broad expertise to drive next-generation solutions, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Ultra-Wideband (UWB).
In this role, will act as a principal authority on connectivity architectures, partnering with internal and external partners like silicon vendors and hardware engineering to deliver power-efficient cross-device experiences.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities
- Define the multi-year technical outlook and system architecture for wireless connectivity across Pixel devices and ecosystem products.
- Architect and guide the implementation of efficient, low-latency cross-device discovery and data transfer protocols.
- Develop and optimize core connectivity stacks in AOSP and embedded layers interfacing with Wi-Fi, BT/BTLE, UWB, and NFC chipsets.
- Lead technical engagements with silicon vendors and hardware teams during board bring-up, power management, and hardware debug.
- Vet systems designs, establish rigorous diagnostics and operations standards, and demonstrate technical leadership across the organization.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
- Experience with Android Kernel.
- Experience with Wi-Fi.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
- Experience with embedded systems.
