Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to design and develop software tools that boost developer efficiency for Physical AI applications on Arm-based platforms. The position will be based at the Arm office in Shanghai.

Developers working in Physical AI are required to combine innovative AI models, robotics middleware, system software, multiple computing resources, and deployment configurations. In this capacity, you will design reusable tools and automated workflows that minimize complexity. These tools enable developers to develop, analyze, optimize, validate, and deploy Arm-based Physical AI solutions with improved efficiency. This remarkable opportunity offers you the chance to collaborate with pioneering technologies alongside a world-class team, creating outstanding solutions that will impact the future of AI.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine reusable tools and automated workflows aimed at building, analyzing, optimizing, validating, and deploying Physical AI workloads on Arm platforms.
  • Develop performance-analysis capabilities that detect bottlenecks across AI models, middleware, operating systems, and heterogeneous compute resources.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, open-source communities, and partners to identify common developer challenges and deliver scalable tooling solutions.
  • Build reference integrations, documentation, and examples that simplify tool adoption.

A successful candidate will have strong software engineering skills, practical experience developing developer-facing tools, and a passion for simplifying complex system development and optimization workflows.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong C/C++ and Python programming skills, with proven experience building developer-facing tools, automation, or performance-analysis solutions.
  • Solid knowledge of Linux systems, software performance engineering, profiling, debugging, and optimization.
  • Experience crafting command-line interfaces, APIs, plugins, or integrations for developer workflows.
  • In-depth understanding of Arm architecture, heterogeneous computing, and AI/ML or Physical AI software workloads.
  • Ability to convert complex technical problems into user-friendly, reusable, and maintainable software tools.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with profiling or observability technologies such as Linux perf, eBPF, PMU profiling, tracing frameworks, OpenTelemetry or equivalent experience.
  • Experience building AI Agent tools, Agent Skills, MCP servers, or LLM-assisted developer workflows.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks, ROS 2, robotics, autonomous systems, or real-time workloads.
  • Prior work on IVI, ADAS or advanced robotics (humanoid, quadruped, AMR).
  • Experience contributing to open-source tools or building agent-enabled developer workflows.

In Return:

You will receive training and support to excel in this role, as part of a welcoming group who is enthusiastic about technologies. Moreover, Arm offices provide an outstanding environment to collaborate and connect with your colleagues through social and volunteering activities. Join us on this exceptional journey where your contributions will successfully deliver innovative solutions and influence the future of AI!
