AlloyDB is an enterprise grade, cloud native, transactional database designed for high availability and performance. The product is new but already has good market-fit and is growing fast, and we have incredibly high ambitions.

We have the unique opportunity to rethink the fundamental database architecture.

As one of the members of the team, you will have the opportunity to own and drive the technical vision and execution for a brand new database product on Google Cloud Platform. You will be able to invent and deliver innovations in data management, integrity, and protection to a large set of customers quickly. You will also operate side by side with other technical leaders to keep AlloyDB running smoothly for our customer's mission critical workloads.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the design and implementation of major components across the database stack.
  • Analyze end to end performance of distributed storage and working on short and long term projects to improve it.
  • Test and harden product data integrity and proactively identify and improve operation efficiencies by improving process and tool sets.
  • Participate in the operation and maintenance of the database as a service, including troubleshooting and diagnosis of customer and service issues.
  • Influence and shape team's culture and process.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in C++.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience designing or managing PostgreSQL/MySQL/MS SQL Server databases focusing on performance, security, scalability, reliability, high-availability, and disaster recovery.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Experience in designing and developing large scale distributed systems or relational databases, API, workflow, concurrency, multi-threading and synchronization.
