With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

As a Staff Software Developer, you will drive the technical outlook, strategy, and execution for the Chat Client Side Encryption (CSE) initiative. This is a critical, high-impact role responsible for ensuring the successful design, development, and delivery of a secure and robust CSE solution within Google Chat. As the Team Lead, you will navigate complex technical challenges, make key architectural decisions, and provide technical leadership to a team of developers.

From pre-computed summaries for email threads, summaries for meetings, and videos created from a document using lifelike AI avatars, our AI opportunity is huge. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
Canada: $216000 - $221000 (CAD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.
  • Influence and coach a distributed team of developers.
  • Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large scale software solutions.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 5 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java,, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience with mobile stack.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Experience with large-scale cloud solutions.
