The Power Control team is seeking a highly experienced Staff Design Evaluation Engineer to support our Datacenter and Energy Business Unit at ADI's Research Triangle Park location in North Carolina. The Power Control team develops next-generation controllers and power regulation devices. Our team of IC designers, mask designers, and design evaluation engineers work in various sites across the globe with a growing concentration in the Research Triangle. In addition to power controllers aimed at datacenters, our team also creates best-in-class general-purpose products to service broad markets.

As a Staff Design Evaluation Engineer, you will take a leadership role in defining and advancing post-silicon validation strategy across products and programs. You will serve as a key technical resource, directing evaluation efforts, developing new methodologies, and representing the evaluation function in cross-organizational and customer-facing engagements. This role requires the ability to work with significant autonomy, anticipate challenges, and influence outcomes across and beyond the immediate team.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

·        Lead post-silicon validation strategy for complex and critical power IC programs, from pre-silicon planning through production release

·        Develop and advance evaluation methodologies, measurement techniques, and test frameworks that raise the standard of practice across the team

·        Provide technical leadership ahead of tape-out, influencing design-for-test decisions and evaluation readiness across multiple concurrent programs

·        Develop and champion the use of AI tools and advanced automation to accelerate design evaluation development and execution

·        Resolve complex characterization and silicon debug problems requiring in-depth analysis and evaluation of multiple variable factors, taking a lead role in problem resolution

·        Represent the evaluation team as a principal technical contact with design leads, applications engineering, and other cross-organizational stakeholders

·        Interact regularly with management and senior personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines

·        Direct the work of less experienced engineers, model professional behaviors, and actively mentor team members to influence their career growth and technical development

·        Promote collaborative teamwork and knowledge sharing within the organization

·        Work as part of a cross-functional multi-site test, design, applications, and business team, often serving in a project leadership capacity

·        Anticipate change in project direction or business needs and proactively redirect evaluation efforts

Minimum Qualifications

·        MSEE, or BSEE with significant industry experience

·        6+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor post-silicon validation, characterization, and debug

·        Demonstrated expertise in power management ICs (controllers, converters, LDOs, PMICs)

·        Experience with lab equipment including DMM, oscilloscope, function generator, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, SMU, and electronic loads

·        Proven ability in automating lab bench setups using Python, C, C#, or equivalent

·        Experience with hardware development for evaluation: PCB schematic entry, layout, and debug using tools such as SPICE, Altium, PADs, or Allegro

·        Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across, up, and down the organization

·        Track record of mentoring engineers and directing technical work without formal management authority

Preferred Qualifications

·        Familiarity with a broad range of power supply topologies and control schemes

·        Experience with National Instruments PXI or similar automated test platforms

·        Experience with FPGA development for test and measurement applications

·        Knowledge of industry landscape for power applications
