Sr TPM, Safety & Compliance, Last Mile Delivery Automation
We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead regulatory, functional safety, compliance, and road-readiness programs for Amazon’s autonomous delivery vehicle initiative. This role will own the integrated program required to safely develop, test, and deploy autonomous vehicles on public roads, working across vehicle engineering, autonomy software, systems engineering, functional safety, legal, regulatory compliance, public policy, operations, and commercial teams. The Senior TPM will also manage complex dependencies with external autonomy providers, vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, and other technology partners, ensuring that safety requirements, regulatory obligations, technical evidence, and operational controls remain aligned across organizational boundaries. The successful candidate will bring strong systems thinking and technical program leadership, translate safety and regulatory requirements into executable plans, drive closure of cross-functional risks and gaps, and establish the mechanisms used to determine when vehicles, software releases, operating locations, and operational processes are ready for public-road testing and deployment.
Key job responsibilities
Regulatory, Safety, and Compliance Program: Own the integrated roadmap for functional safety, regulatory compliance, and public-road readiness across vehicle development, testing, and deployment. Translate requirements into technical deliverables, milestones, owners, dependencies, and approval criteria.
Functional Safety and Technical Evidence: Partner with functional safety, systems engineering, and validation teams to coordinate hazard and risk assessments, safety requirements, verification and validation activities, and the technical evidence required to support the safety case and demonstrate compliance.
Road Readiness: Establish and drive readiness criteria for vehicles, software releases, operating locations, and operational processes. Coordinate closed-course and public-road testing, permits, operator readiness, incident-response processes, and required safety and regulatory approvals.
Cross-Functional and Partner Execution: Align engineering, functional safety, legal, regulatory compliance, public policy, operations, and commercial teams. Manage shared plans and complex dependencies with autonomy providers, vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, and other external partners.
Risk, Change, and Governance: Identify and drive closure of safety, regulatory, technical, and operational risks. Establish governance mechanisms to assess how hardware, software, operating-domain, supplier, and operational changes affect the safety case, compliance posture, and readiness to operate.
Program Reporting and Scalability: Provide senior leaders with clear readiness assessments, risk summaries, and decision points. Build repeatable processes and governance mechanisms that support expansion across vehicle platforms, deployment locations, and regulatory jurisdictions.
Los Angeles County applicants: Job duties for this position include: work safely and cooperatively with other employees, supervisors, and staff; adhere to standards of excellence despite stressful conditions; communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, supervisors, and staff to ensure exceptional customer service; and follow all federal, state, and local laws and Company policies.
