Today, more than 56 million registered users come to Depop to find great value, express their own personal style and give clothes a longer life. We believe that everything you want already exists, and our role is to help people discover it. We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Toronto engineering team and help build the cloud-native foundation that powers scalable, reliable, and secure software delivery at eBay. This team plays a critical role in enabling product and engineering teams to move faster by providing robust platform capabilities across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, developer tooling, automation, and observability.
In this role, you will design, build, and operate modern infrastructure on AWS, with a strong focus on Amazon EKS, Terraform, CI/CD, Linux, networking, and site reliability engineering principles. You will partner closely with software engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to improve developer productivity, strengthen platform resilience, and support the adoption of best practices for operating distributed systems at scale. This is a high-impact individual contributor opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, improving engineering efficiency, and helping shape the future of cloud platform capabilities within a collaborative team environment.

What you will accomplish:

  • Design, build, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure and platform services on AWS that improve reliability, security, and performance for engineering teams.
  • Enhance the Kubernetes-based platform, including Amazon EKS environments, to support resilient cloud-native application deployment and day-to-day operational excellence.
  • Improve developer productivity by automating infrastructure provisioning, deployment workflows, and operational processes using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD best practices.
  • Partner with software engineering teams to define platform standards, solve production challenges, and enable faster, more consistent delivery of services.
  • Strengthen system observability and incident readiness by implementing and improving monitoring, alerting, and operational insights using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch.
  • Apply SRE principles to increase platform reliability, reduce manual toil, and create opportunities for continuous improvement, learning, and technical leadership across the team.

What you will bring:

  • Strong experience building and operating production infrastructure on AWS, including core services and cloud architecture patterns for scalable distributed systems.
  • Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, ideally Amazon EKS, along with experience supporting containerized workloads in production environments.
  • Proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices, plus experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
  • Solid foundation in Linux systems, networking, and reliability engineering concepts, with the ability to troubleshoot across infrastructure and application layers.
  • Experience with one or more programming or scripting languages such as Go or Python, and familiarity with observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience with Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker is highly desirable.
