Sr. Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Closures & Mechatronics

Tesla’s Supplier Industrialization team owns critical component development, qualification, and lifecycle activities across the supply chain. As a Senior Supplier Industrialization Engineer on the Mechatronics team, you will industrialize complex electromechanical components and closure systems — from advanced development through mass production. 

You will partner with Design, Purchasing, Quality, and Manufacturing; make high-judgment decisions at supplier sites; and travel frequently to ensure suppliers deliver on-time, high-quality parts into Tesla production. The mandate is simple: enable extremely rapid development cycles and product launches without compromising quality, cost, or scale. 

Responsibilities

• Lead industrialization of closure and mechanism components across the supply base, from advanced development through mass production qualification

• Develop, audit, and improve supplier manufacturing, assembly, and quality-control processes so they are capable, repeatable, and launch-ready

• Own New Product Introduction (NPI) at suppliers, including process development, launch readiness, capacity, and process capability

• Translate and clarify technical requirements between suppliers and Tesla Design, Purchasing, and Quality teams

• Drive supplier process development and design-change readiness to improve cost, quality, and scalability

• Coach suppliers to build exceptionally robust processes that produce high-quality parts at Tesla volume and rate

• Validate supplier corrective actions involving design or process changes; confirm they are sustainable and applied across similar lines and suppliers

• Make on-the-spot technical decisions at supplier sites, and close gaps in manufacturing process, tooling, inspection, and quality systems before they reach Tesla production

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, evidence of exceptional ability, or equivalent experience

• 5+ years of automotive experience supporting electromechanical components and structural mechanisms in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering

• Working knowledge of automotive quality systems; PPAP/APQP experience is a plus

• Strong technical writing, with the ability to explain complex issues in plain language. Familiarity with SPC, GD&T, and data analysis

• Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level

• Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-ambiguity environment, with strong collaboration skills across suppliers, peers, and functions

• Willingness to travel 30–40%, including on short notice

Expected Compensation

$108,000 - $198,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
