
Sr. Structural Engineer, Factory Design
Description
Tesla is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to be part of the Building Factory Design Team at Gigafactory 1. This person will have a thorough understanding of all things related to Structural design and construction, with experience with Architectural, and MEP design. They will be a technical advisor providing guidance and review of conceptual through detailed designs to produce buildings and construction that are fully integrated with manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have experience working with large, complex projects, provide solutions that are super-efficient and robust, and be able to multi-task and communicate risks to multiple stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- High-level review of Structural design to ensure every design maintains the highest level of quality and serves as Engineer of Record (EOR) for the projects
- Continually develop and improve upon project workflows and standards
- Provide technical expertise to the CSA design engineering team and other groups within organization
- Lead strategic decisions about technologies, materials, and processes, to build reliable buildings and construction that are very cost effective
- Ensure design satisfies the construction requirements and is compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations that are relevant to the project
- Support construction by providing field construction review and design guidance
- Provide peer review and mentorship of junior engineers
- Ability to guide others and take leadership on projects of varying complexity
Requirements
- Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering or equivalent experience
- At least 6 years of experience with increasing responsibility
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) required with ability to get NV PE license
- Ability to adapt, multi-task, and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment with evolving changes in design requirements
- Work well under pressure and can work with multiple large teams at same time
- Ability to interface and collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines
- Expert knowledge of Revit MEP and proficiency with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite
