About Databricks
At Databricks, we are passionate about enabling data teams to solve the world's toughest problems; from making the next mode of transportation a reality to accelerating the development of medical breakthroughs. We do this by building and running the world's best data and AI infrastructure platform so our customers can use deep data insights to improve their business. Founded by engineers and customer obsessed, we leap at every opportunity to solve technical challenges, from designing next-gen UI/UX for interfacing with data to scaling our services and infrastructure across millions of virtual machines. And we're only getting started.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Staff Technical Program Manager to own and lead a company-wide portfolio of security programs spanning Trust & Safety Engineering, Identity and Access Management, Platform Security, Security Operations, Product Security, and IT.
This role will take a major security risk portfolio from strategy to measurable risk reduction by driving prioritization, architecture alignment, investment planning, execution, adoption, and operationalization. The scope connects customer-facing product security with internal engineering and enterprise controls across Databricks’ product, corporate, and Databricks-on-Databricks environments.
Success means advancing a complex security domain, creating clarity where direction is incomplete, and materially improving Databricks’ security posture, customer trust, and ability to operate at scale. The TPM will structure ambiguous problems, evaluate technical and resourcing tradeoffs, establish durable decision mechanisms, and align VP- and Director-level organizations with competing priorities and shared dependencies.
This is an executive-facing role and a trusted partner to C-suite executives, VPs of Engineering and Product, Security executives, and senior architects. The TPM will communicate risk, options, decisions, progress, and escalations with precision; embed security commitments in technical roadmaps and launch processes; and strengthen secure-by-default controls, measurable risk ownership, and operational readiness. The role will also elevate the broader TPM community through mentorship, reusable operating mechanisms, and high standards for technical program leadership.
This position is located on-site in Bellevue, WA; Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA; or Mountain View, CA.
The Impact You’ll Have
- Architect and drive execution of strategic security initiatives across Trust & Safety Engineering, Identity and Access Management, Security, and IT.
- Establish company-wide processes to identify, track, and resolve high-risk security issues while influencing architecture and infrastructure decisions.
- Connect core security infrastructure to platform services so unified identity, data lineage, and audit controls extend across structured, unstructured, and AI workloads.
- Resolve cross-organizational blockers with Director-, VP-, and C-suite engineering leaders while balancing technical tradeoffs and resource constraints.
- Mentor TPMs and strengthen standards for technical rigor, operational execution, and program management.
- Represent Databricks’ security architecture and posture in executive technical reviews and, where appropriate, industry forums.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in technical program management, engineering program management, security program management, or an equivalent technical leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to translate security, privacy, policy, and compliance objectives into technical strategy, architecture decisions, execution plans, and measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicting priorities and resource constraints across cross-functional teams without direct authority, establish organization-wide engineering processes, and deliver complex, multi-team roadmaps.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical strategies to executive engineering leaders.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools to accelerate program strategy, technical problem-solving, analysis, and automation.
- Ability to work onsite three days per week in Bellevue, Seattle, San Francisco, or Mountain View.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating in hyperscale cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, or in complex distributed data-processing environments.
- Prior hands-on experience as a software, systems, or security engineer before transitioning to Technical Program Management.
- Familiarity with unified data governance architectures, distributed-systems security, and or security controls supporting AI and machine-learning infrastructure.
- Experience with external security research, open-source contributions, or speaking at major technical conferences.
