Amazon Web Services is seeking a Solutions Architect Storage Specialist to support our US DoW and Federal Civilian Government customers.

Do you like helping U.S. Government customers implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems? Would you like to do this using the latest cloud computing technologies? Do you have a knack for helping these groups understand application architectures and integration approaches, and the consultative and leadership skills to launch a project on a trajectory to success?

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced Storage Solutions Architect to guide our customers on data storage best practices and to help shape the future growth of our storage services. As a storage Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will be an authority on architectures that leverage AWS services to increase availability and drive down costs for our customers.

In this role, you will partner closely with the Storage Sales Specialist to enable large-scale customer use cases and to help drive the adoption of AWS storage services. Thought leadership plays an important part in this role as you look for new ways to maximize value for our customers by establishing best practices and proposing enhancements and features for our storage services. As our portfolio of storage services continues to grow, you will leverage your passion for learning to come up to speed quickly. As an SME, you will be called upon frequently to present to customers and other AWS teams. To help our field teams understand how to integrate AWS storage options into customer architectures, you will also create field enablement materials for the broader SA population.

Our Specialist Solutions Architects are regarded as technical “thought leaders” within the US Federal Community who evangelize emerging technologies not only on a conceptual level, but also on a practical, architectural level. Our SA’s play a critical role in the widespread adoption and advancement of cloud computing capabilities within the DoW and FedCIV Community. They think outside of the box to deliver results and provide solutions that are cost-effective, mission-focused, and secure. On our team, you will work backwards from our customers to develop AWS storage solutions and migrate complex workloads to the AWS cloud.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and obtain and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance

Key job responsibilities
  • Enable the AWS SA community to design cost-optimized, secure, scalable, storage architectures
  • Help AWS customers adopt well-architected storage solutions
  • Build technical trusted advisor relationships with internal and external customers
  • Refine best practices around storage services and solutions

A day in the life
An AWS Specialist SA is the deep-domain expert for the Global Government sales leaders. Day-to-day, you design storage architectures with customers, build proof-of-concepts using services like AWS FSx, and S3, deliver hands-on workshops, and respond to specialist requests from field teams. A major part of the role is scaling through others—training generalist SAs to lead storage conversations independently—and producing thought leadership like blog posts and reference architectures.
