Sr. Software Product Manager, Robotaxi

Description

Tesla's Robotaxi software team enables Robotaxi to scale through software. Fleet operations still lacks the tools to run at that scale. You will own product for Operational Design Domain (ODD), Vehicle Information Portal (VIP), and PM solutioning across Robotaxi software ecosystem domains. RMS already has a dedicated product manager; this seat is the product owner for the other domains on the team.

Design Technology, which is part of Vehicle Engineering, builds the internal tools that thousands of engineers use every day. This role sits in Robotaxi Ops Software: you define the problem, write the spec, and coordinate the partners so the team does not become the bottleneck for launch and scale.

Responsibilities

• Own Product: registration and insurance access for first responders, including markets beyond Texas
• Lead PM solutioning across Robotaxi software ecosystem domains (demand planning, charging, payables, service) so cross-team gaps are identified and solutioned
• Partner with software engineering, operations, and the RMS product manager without duplicating RMS ownership
• Write clear specs, cut scope when needed, and keep named owners on ownerless flows
  

Requirements

• Experience as a product manager owning operational or internal software used by other teams
• Ability to operate in ambiguous problem spaces with many stakeholders and no existing playbook
• Technical credibility with software engineers: hold a design conversation, make trade-offs, and not treat engineering as a ticket queue
• Track record coordinating across teams you do not control
• Clear written and verbal communication; specs and decisions others can execute
• Experience with fleet, logistics, vehicle operations, or similarly operational domains (preferred)

Expected Compensation

$136,000 - $264,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
