G&A Solutions Engineering (GSE) is IS&T's dedicated technology partner for Apple's general and administrative functions — including people, finance, facilities, legal, and security. The team builds and delivers integrated technology solutions that keep these functions running efficiently and securely at global scale. GSE also works closely with business teams to develop custom tools that improve productivity and bring greater automation and consistency to G&A operations across Apple.

The IS&T (Information Systems and Technology) organization at Apple builds and maintains mission-critical applications and services that support Apple customers, employees, partners, and products worldwide.
IS&T’s Legal and Global Security Solutions (LGSS) Team is seeking an experienced Java Software Engineer, to join its engineering organization where you will work with a highly talented team of software engineers and product managers to build scalable and secure solutions that empower Apple’s legal, security and compliance functions
Responsibilities
- Your responsibilities will include all aspects of software development from architecture and system design to implementation and maintenance of both custom-built and packaged solutions. This role requires a highly skilled and adaptable engineer who thrives in an ambiguous environment and takes ownership of project delivery from inception to deployment.

- The ideal candidate will:
- Collaborate across teams, mentor engineers, and drive innovation while delivering features aligned with the product roadmap.
- Bring a passion for quality, attention to detail, and a deep technical understanding of building scalable web and cloud applications.
- Have experience deploying and integrating packaged solutions.
- Show strong customer focus, manage multiple parallel tracks, and build and maintain relationships.
- Have a proven ability to influence and collaborate.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years proven experience developing software in a professional capacity. Longer experience preferred.
- 4 years experience with Java, including proficiency in concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization techniques.
- 4 years experience in OOP principles, data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns (e.g. GoF), with a proven focus on implementing testable, maintainable, and extensible backend code.
- 4 years experience with complementary programming languages beyond Java (e.g. Go, Python, Ruby, etc.), including practical use for automation scripting, infrastructure tooling, data processing pipelines, and build system customizations.
- 4 years experience designing, implementing, and shipping high-scale, high-performance, highly available, fault-tolerant, and secure cloud-based distributed systems.
- 4 years experience in API design and implementation, including proficiency in RESTful API principles, gRPC, GraphQL, contract-first design (e.g. OpenAPI/Swagger, Protobuf, etc.), API versioning strategies, gateway patterns, rate limiting, and designing APIs for backward compatibility and long-term evolution.
- 4 years experience with message-driven and event-driven architectures, including proficiency in messaging systems (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, etc.), event sourcing, CQRS patterns, and designing reliable asynchronous communication between distributed services.
- B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Track record of leading software projects within a team as a tech lead (TL), while mentoring software engineers.
- Hands-on experience leveraging GenAI coding tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, Codex) to accelerate the software development lifecycle, enhance code quality, and streamline debugging and testing processes.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $277,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
