Sr. Software Development Manager, Relational Database Services
The console is where most customers meet Amazon RDS, and where AWS operators keep the service healthy every hour of every day. We are looking for a Senior Software Development Manager in Dublin to own the end-to-end customer experience including AWS Console, and CloudFormation for RDS. This role spans both the customer-facing console and the internal operations console used to run the service. This leader will define how customers discover, configure, and manage their databases, and how AWS engineers operate one of the largest managed database fleets in the world.
This is a broad, high-impact charter. You will lead multiple teams responsible for the RDS customer experience and the next-generation internal operations console, and you will own how agentic AI is incorporated into both. That means reimagining the console from a set of forms and dashboards into an intelligent, assistive experience: one that guides customers to the right decisions, surfaces the right operational context to engineers, and takes safe, well-scoped actions on their behalf. You will set the product and technical vision, deliver a modern operator console to replace legacy tooling, and raise the bar on usability, safety, and speed across the RDS console surface.
The ideal candidate pairs strong product and customer-experience instincts with deep engineering judgment, and is excited to lead at the frontier of applying agentic AI to real operational and customer workflows. You build teams that obsess over the people using their software, whether that is a customer launching their first database or an operator responding to a live event.
Key job responsibilities
You start the day reviewing a prototype that brings an agentic assistant into the customer console, digging into how it stays safe, explainable, and trustworthy. You then meet with the operations console team on the plan to retire a legacy internal tool, and work through how operators will adopt the new experience during live events. In the afternoon you align with AWS Console and design partners on shared patterns, review your org's hiring pipeline with a manager, and spend time with a senior engineer shaping the multi-year architecture for an AI-native console platform.
