Sr. Risk Assurance Auditor
The opportunity
The Senior Internal Auditor will support Internal Audit Programs including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, Operational Audit, and Enterprise Risk Management. We help Unity achieve its business objectives by bringing a systematic, objective, and disciplined approach to evaluating the effectiveness of the Company's governance, risk management, and compliance and control practices.
This role is grounded in business and associated risks. The core of the work is learning how Unity's processes run end to end, identifying where risk sits, and testing whether the controls over those processes operate effectively. Because Unity's processes are enabled by technology, we are looking for someone comfortable following a transaction through the systems that support it. Technical depth is a plus, not a prerequisite.
We are looking for a proactive, curious auditor who asks questions until the process or data makes sense, raises risks before they become issues, and is genuinely interested in how the business works.
What you’ll be doing
- Support the SOX compliance program, including planning, scoping, reviewing, assessment, and conclusion on the design and operating effectiveness of Unity's internal controls over financial reporting, covering both business process controls and IT Application Controls (ITACs).
- Partner with external auditors, to gain efficiencies and align on business and technology control scoping
- Build relationships and collaborate cross-functionally with business process owners, IT, Engineering, and Security teams to gain an understanding of their operations and underlying internal control environment
- Provide advisory services to business process and system owners, and proactively evaluate processes, system implementations, and planned changes to identify and highlight potential risks and process/control recommendations before they become issues
- Support internal audit projects, including planning, scoping, execution, reporting, and follow-up on remediation, for both operational and technology audits
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrated experience documenting and testing business process controls, including walkthroughs, process flows, risk identification, and concluding on control design and operating effectiveness
- An understanding of how business process controls and technology controls fit together in a SOX program, and comfort tracing a process through its supporting systems without needing to be a technical specialist
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain process and control issues clearly to both business and technical stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in an appropriate field with a CA, CMA, CA-Inter, CPA, CIA, or CISA
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP applicable to the technology industry, PCAOB and COSO/Internal Audit standards
You might also have (optional)
- Experience testing IT general controls (access, change management, IT operations) or automated application controls; a benefit, but not required for this role
- Hands-on experience with ERP or major SaaS platforms from a process and reporting perspective
- Experience at a technology, SaaS, or gaming company, including exposure to processes such as revenue recognition, R&D capitalization, etc.
- Experience using data analytics or automation to improve control testing and monitoring
- Demonstrated research capabilities with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn new processes, systems, and tools quickly
- Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, and continuous improvement towards leading practices
