Position Summary
As a Sr. Regulatory Compliance Engineer at F5, you will be responsible for working with internal F5 engineering teams as well as external third-party compliance vendors to ensure that new, modified, or existing F5 hardware products conform to international product safety, physical protection, and EMC/EMI certification requirements. The candidate must be familiar with CISPR32/35, FCC Part15, CSA/UL/IEC 62368-1(CB Scheme), Harmonized Standards for the EMC and LVD Directives, and NEBS GR-63/GR-1089.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and performance of all activities relating to EMC and product safety compliance / approvals for F5 hardware. This includes the preparation of schedules, test procedures, test plans, report reviews and report approvals.
  •  Assist in the coordination and performance of all activities relating to NEBs compliance testing for F5 hardware products.
  • Establish / maintain relationships with testing vendors for compliance certifications.
  • Stay abreast of the latest EMC and Safety standards, both domestic and international.
  • Assist in the review of new hardware designs up-front to ensure all requirements for regulatory compliance are met.
  • Participate in internal and off-site testing for agency compliance of F5 hardware products for EMC, safety, NEBS, or other regulatory standards (up to 25% travel requirement).
  • Participate in the creation, development and maintenance of in-house test procedures, test plans, guidelines, and other regulatory compliance documentation for F5 hardware products.
  • Initiate and/or coordinate root cause analysis for non-compliance issues.
  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of the standard requirements for IT and Telecom equipment.
  • General knowledge of power electronics theory and practical designs.
  • Ability to read schematics.
  • Ability to pull BOMs from a PLM system.
  • Ability to read and translate regulatory legislation as it pertains to F5 hardware products.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with different teams and interface easily with other disciplines.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task effectively.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Job may be performed on-site at a customer facility or data center, in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table, or at an off-site test laboratory.
  • Available for business travel (up to 25%), including off-site product testing and attendance at compliance seminars and symposiums.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in EMC / Product Safety / Compliance (7-10 years preferred).
  • Should be proficient with different certification and testing standards, such as CISPR, CSA, EN, IECEE CB Scheme, FCC, NEBS, TUV, and UL.
  • Should be familiar with the basics of the National Electric Code, as well as understanding electrical wiring diagrams and electronic circuits.
  • Should have hands-on experience with EMC and Product Safety test equipment.

Work Schedule

  • Primarily onsite Monday – Friday.

The annual base pay for this position is: $160,800.00 - $241,200.00
