About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:

The EA Business Unit in Wendell, North Carolina, which is its U.S. headquarters, focuses on photovoltaic inverters, medium-voltage power distribution equipment including packaging and services, and solutions, including automation.

We are looking for a Sr Proposal Engineer. This Hybrid position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available. This position could be fully remote for an experienced MV Switchgear Proposal Engineer.

We are seeking a Sr. Proposal Engineer to lead technical excellence, engineering strategy, and continuous improvement across our Solutions organization. In this high-impact role, you'll work closely with Siemens Sales to prepare offers supporting customers in the industrial, construction and utility markets on technical, contractual, and commercial issues.

This role may be converted to a remote position based on experience and qualifications, with occasional travel to Wendell for trainings, workshops, and key meetings

You’ll make an impact by:

• Translating customer requirements and specifications into innovative, cost-effective power distribution solutions.
• Leading the development of complex proposals, including scope definition, equipment selection, and technical configurations.
• Creating conceptual layouts and engineering deliverables that clearly communicate proposed solutions.
• Partnering with engineering, procurement, and product teams to evaluate technical options and optimize solution design.
• Developing project estimates, cost models, and customer-facing proposal packages for large-scale opportunities.
• Supporting customer discussions and serving as a trusted technical advisor to sales and business development teams.
• Driving engineering excellence through continuous improvement, technical mentorship, and successful project handoff to execution teams.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years of application engineering experience supporting engineered-to-order solutions and customer proposals.
• 3+ years of quotation, estimating, or front-end engineering experience.
• Experience analyzing customer specifications, single-line diagrams, and technical requirements to develop optimized solutions.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to balance technical, commercial, and profitability objectives.
• Ability to identify market trends and collaborate cross-functionally to drive product and process improvements.
• Ability to travel up to 10-15%.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading, mentoring, or developing engineering teams.
• Background in power distribution, medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, or related electrical infrastructure products.
• Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards.
• Experience reviewing single-line diagrams, schematics, protection and control systems, and communication network drawings.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills.
• Experience within manufacturing, EPC, utility, industrial, or consulting engineering environments.

The pay range for this position is $91,463 - $156,794 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
