Microsoft Security is looking for a Sr. Product Marketing Manager to join the Microsoft Purview product marketing team and lead marketing efforts for our data loss prevention capabilities. DLP is a key component of our Data Security story and the key capability to help customers adopt AI apps and agents at scale.  We’re looking for a customer-obsessed marketer to join our team of collaborative marketing members who are individually brilliant, love working with each other, take ownership, and embrace a growth mindset.  In this role, you will be responsible for understanding customer needs, market content, influencing product strategy, increasing awareness, and helping drive sales, deployment, and usage of Purview's DLP capabilities.  The ideal candidate has deep customer empathy and technically credible, with the ability to turn real customer challenges and deep product understanding into clear strategy, differentiated messaging, and high-quality content. They are both strategic and hands-on, and build trusted partnerships across product, engineering, sales, marketing, and leadership teams to drive alignment and results.

Responsibilities
  • Develop clear, differentiated positioning and messaging for Purview's DLP capabilities, with a strong point of view on its role in securing data in the AI era.
  • Build deep product expertise across DLP capabilities, architecture, policy controls, deployment considerations, user experiences, and integration points across the Microsoft security portfolio.
  • Translate technical depth and product nuance into compelling customer-facing narratives, launch materials, presentations, demos, sales guidance, and web content.
  • Ground strategy in customer challenges by engaging directly with customers, field teams, partners, and security practitioners. Turn those insights into sharper messaging, product priorities, and adoption programs.
  • Analyze the market and competitive landscape, identify shifts in buyer needs and technology, and articulate why Microsoft is uniquely positioned to help organizations protect sensitive data across their digital estate.
  • Lead planning for major product investments and launches, aligning stakeholders around target audiences, value propositions, evidence, channels, and measures of success.
  • Create scalable enablement that helps sellers and partners confidently explain DLP value, address technical and competitive questions, and connect DLP to broader Purview data security and AI security conversations.
  • Represent the data security business with customers, industry analysts, partners, events, and internal executive audiences as a credible and engaging subject-matter expert.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 3+ years experience in business OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 5+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience..

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years' experience in product marketing
  • OR bachelor's degree in marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years' experience in product marketing
  • 2+ years' experience of technical product marketing within the cybersecurity or AI space.
  • 4+ years’ experience in core product marketing discipline within technology.
  • Experience using data to build and present business cases to key stakeholders.
  • Experience in data security, data loss prevention, information protection, or adjacent enterprise security categories.
  • Familiarity with the security needs associated with generative AI, copilots, AI agents, and responsible AI adoption.
  • Experience working with enterprise customers and navigating the needs of security teams, risk, IT, and business stakeholders.
  • The ability to build credible competitive narratives based on product truth, customer evidence, and a nuanced understanding of the market. 
  • Strong technical aptitude and curiosity, with the ability to quickly understand complex products, architectures, workflows, and customer deployment considerations, 
  • A proven ability to translate technical concepts into clear, differentiated messaging for security, IT, compliance, risk, and business decision-makers.
  • Strong understanding of market analysis, competitive strategy, audience segmentation, positioning, launches, and go-to-market execution.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence across functions and at senior levels.
  • A track record of leading complex, cross-functional programs in a fast-moving environment and driving clarity through ambiguity.

Product Marketing IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
