Tesla Energy is seeking a Sr Service Engineer to own regulatory certification and productization of custom electromechanical service tools used across industrial Battery Energy Storage Systems, the Supercharger network, and residential energy products. This role ensures internally developed service and manufacturing tools meet safety and regulatory requirements for deployment in North America, Europe, Australia, Latin America, and other international markets, and that every tool is financially viable and stakeholder-ready before advancing from Beta to full production.

The role combines a strong engineering foundation with business acumen, process optimization, and hands-on use of AI tools to transform business workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end product readiness lifecycle for service tools transitioning from development through Beta to production
  • Conduct financial analyses including cost-benefit assessments, ROI projections, and total cost of ownership for service tools entering production
  • Build and present business cases to support funding, prioritization, and go-to-market decisions
  • Lead business-focused communication with internal and external stakeholders, including executive briefings, status updates, and readiness reviews
  • Coordinate cross-functional alignment across engineering, operations, finance, and leadership teams
  • Review and evaluate existing business processes within the Tooling, Process, and Training team; identify opportunities for optimization through AI tools, automation, and data-driven decision-making
  • Design and implement AI-augmented workflows that improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance tool quality

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Industrial, Data Sciences, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience conducting financial analysis and building business cases
  • Strong understanding of compliance frameworks and product release processes. Experience working with NRTLs and international certification bodies is a plus
  • Proficiency with modern AI tools (e.g., LLMs, automation platforms, AI-assisted analytics) and a clear understanding of how to integrate AI into business processes
  • Strong documentation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate with engineering, operations, finance, and leadership stakeholders
