Are you energized by solving complex technical challenges that span multiple teams and systems? Do you thrive when turning ambiguity into clear plans and measurable outcomes? As a Technical Program Manager III at Amazon, you will own the lifecycle of cross-functional programs that drive meaningful impact across the organization. You will define program strategy, align business and technical stakeholders, and deliver results at scale. This role puts you at the intersection of technology and business, where your ability to navigate complexity, make informed trade-offs, and communicate effectively will shape the direction of critical initiatives. If you are a collaborative, data-driven problem solver who is excited about building mechanisms that improve how teams deliver, we want to hear from you.

Key job responsibilities
  • Define and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of complex, cross-functional programs — setting the mission, vision, objectives, and measurable success criteria while driving teams inside and outside your organization to deliver on commitments.
  • Align business and technical stakeholders by facilitating crisp decision-making, providing context for technology choices, and partnering with engineering teams to prioritize projects that maximize customer and business value.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks across teams, processes, and system architectures, reducing exposure to common failure modes such as unclear requirements, insufficient testing, and ineffective cross-team collaboration.
  • Leverage your technical judgment to evaluate system designs, question proposals, test assumptions, and make smart trade-offs between time, effort, and features while ensuring architectures scale to meet long-term business needs.
  • Author effective narratives and program documents, regularly review program metrics, and communicate progress and outcomes clearly to senior leadership while mentoring other program managers in your organization.
A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing program metrics dashboards and identifying areas that need attention. By mid-morning, you are leading a cross-team alignment meeting where you help engineering and product stakeholders resolve a priority conflict and agree on next steps. After lunch, you draft a program update narrative for a director-level review, pulling together data from multiple sources to tell a clear story. Later, you pair with a principal engineer to evaluate a proposed architectural change, pressure-testing assumptions before the team commits resources. You close the day mentoring a newer program manager on stakeholder communication strategies.
