Position Overview:
Siemens Mobility is seeking an experienced Senior CBTC Technical Manager ready to grow their impact in rail technology. In this visible role, you will lead CBTC technical strategy across complex transit projects, using your deep, hands-on expertise in CBTC equipment architecture, wayside/onboard hardware and software, system integration, testing, commissioning, and customer collaboration.
This is an opportunity to apply your Siemens and rail systems knowledge to influence key design decisions, guide project teams, and help deliver safe, reliable, and innovative mobility solutions. Please note: This is a deep technical engineering leadership role focused specifically on CBTC signaling and train control equipment. Candidates with background solely in general project management, traditional relay/fixed-block signaling, IT networking, or telecom infrastructure—without direct technical mastery of CBTC equipment—will not be considered.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Serve as the technical authority for vital and non-vital CBTC systems, leading system architecture, hardware/software design of wayside and onboard equipment, requirements management, subsystem integration, and technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as the customer's trusted technical advisor, driving technical discussions, resolving complex system-level equipment issues, and ensuring solutions align with operational, contractual, and performance requirements.
- Lead multidisciplinary systems engineering and integration teams across CBTC signaling, train control hardware/software, communications, cybersecurity, and safety disciplines to deliver complex rail infrastructure projects.
- Oversee end-to-end CBTC integration, verification & validation, testing, migration, commissioning, and revenue service implementation, ensuring successful deployment of safety-critical train control systems.
- Drive technical governance and project success by leading change control activities, managing technical risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing strategic technical guidance to project leadership and customers. This posting outlines the primary responsibilities of the role but is not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned in alignment with business needs.

To thrive in this role, you have:
- 10+ years of direct technical experience, engineering, designing, or configuring CBTC train control equipment (wayside and/or onboard sub-systems). This experience should be across design, integration, testing, commissioning, and deployment. (Note: Experience must be in the CBTC equipment domain; general project management or traditional signaling experience alone is insufficient.)
- Proven technical leadership in CBTC, systems engineering, integration, or related rail infrastructure roles.
- Strong background in requirements management, interface management, system V&V, migration planning, and revenue service implementation.
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams across signaling, train control, communications, cybersecurity, safety, and infrastructure disciplines.
- Ability to guide customers and project teams through technical decisions, risk management, change control, compliance, and complex system-level issue resolution.
What will make you stand out:
- Hands-on engineering or design experience with specific CBTC vendor equipment architectures (e.g., vital processing units, ATP/ATO bay architecture, radio communication units, interlocking logic).
- Experience delivering CBTC projects for major transit agencies and/or prior experience with Siemens Mobility, Alstom, Hitachi Rail, Thales, Wabtec, Bombardier Transportation, Ansaldo STS, or similar rail signaling organizations is highly preferred.
Purpose is the reason a company exists. It's not about making money or selling products - it's the deeper "why" behind everything we do. It answers the question: What problem are we solving? What positive change are we creating?

The world needs technologies that work. Technologies that matter. Technologies that solve today's challenges and help shape a better tomorrow. And that's exactly what we build. By bringing together the real world (factories, buildings, power grids, trains) with the digital world (software, data, AI, digital twins), we help our customers become more competitive, resilient, and sustainable.
Our technology is everywhere - in trains and transportation, we help move people faster, safer, and more sustainably.
