Sr. Learning Design Manager, Global Solutions and Risk Compliance (GSRC)
As a Sr. Learning Design Manager III within the Global Solutions Risk Compliance (GSRC) organization, this role leads a team of Learning Designs (LDs) while driving enterprise-wide learning strategies and solutions serving 3000+ employees across multiple sites in AMER, EMEA, and APAC. The role requires deep expertise in learning architecture, program management, people leadership, and the ability to influence across organizational boundaries while delivering measurable business impact through innovative learning solutions.
This leader manages, coaches, and develops a team of LDs — setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, conducting performance reviews, and fostering professional growth. They are responsible for building team capability, identifying skill gaps, and creating an environment where designers thrive, innovate, and deliver high-quality work. The role demands strong people judgment to hire, retain, and grow talent that can scale with the organization's evolving needs.
The role leads the end-to-end design and implementation of large-scale learning programs — including automated new hire learning paths, hands-on classification labs, and collaborative learning forums — that directly impact critical business metrics, including reduction in defects and increase in productivity. Working independently with Quality, Operations & Training Leaders, and STLs, this position develops comprehensive learning strategies aligned with organizational goals.
As a learning innovation leader, this role champions AI-powered learning platforms, adaptive learning pathways, and analytics-driven solutions that scale across the organization. They establish governance frameworks for learning management systems and implement data-driven mechanisms to measure learning effectiveness with clear ROI. They actively lead cross-organizational Learning Design forums, sharing best practices and building frameworks that enable other teams to leverage successful methodologies in AI integration, adaptive learning, and automated assessments.
The role provides strategic consultation to senior stakeholders, identifying learning needs through data analysis from multiple sources. It requires navigating significant ambiguity while making high-judgment decisions impacting both short-term operations and long-term objectives. Working at the intersection of technology, learning science, and business strategy, this role architects scalable solutions while maintaining trusted advisory relationships with global teams to deliver innovative learning experiences that support Amazon's Day 1 culture.

- Directly manage, coach, and develop a team of Learning Design Managers (LDMs), setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and conducting performance reviews
- Build team capability through structured development plans, identifying skill gaps, and creating growth opportunities for direct reports
- Own hiring, onboarding, and retention of LDM talent; bar-raise for the team through effective interview loops and talent assessments
- Manage workload distribution across the team, balancing capacity against program priorities and deadlines
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and psychological safety within the team
- Mentor and multiply L&D design capability across the organization to scale production and efficiency
- Should be able to work on Amazon Learn (Reporting), Articulate Storyline 360, Amazon Learn Content Creation (Addie), Learning Genome, Xyleme & Vyond (preferably also know Figma & Canva)
- Lead end-to-end design and implementation of large-scale, enterprise-wide learning programs (e.g., automated new hire learning paths, hands-on labs, collaborative learning forums) serving 300+ employees across global sites
- Translate complex, process-specific technical concepts into engaging, scalable learning experiences that drive measurable business outcomes (defect reduction, productivity improvement)
- Develop comprehensive learning strategies aligned with organizational goals, navigating significant ambiguity (e.g., new task onboarding with regulatory requirements)
- Make high-judgment decisions that balance short-term operational needs with long-term strategic objectives
- Champion the integration of AI-powered learning platforms, adaptive learning pathways, and analytics-driven solutions that scale across the organization
- Establish governance frameworks for learning management systems (LMS) and implement data-driven mechanisms to measure learning effectiveness and ROI
- Lead and participate in cross-organizational Learning Design forums, sharing best practices and building reusable frameworks/playbooks for AI integration, adaptive learning, and automated assessments
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to accelerate material delivery, adoption, and learner engagement
- Work independently with leaders, Operations Managers, and STLs to identify learning needs through data analysis (new hire performance, survey results, program feedback)
- Provide strategic consultation to senior stakeholders, influencing across organizational boundaries to secure alignment and resources
- Establish and maintain trusted advisory relationships with global teams across AMER, EMEA, and APAC
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative learning experiences that support Amazon's culture and Day 1 thinking
- Define and track critical business metrics to gauge program success, demonstrating clear ROI through measurable impact using the Kirkpatrick Model
- Own program governance — status tracking, risk management, mitigation, and comprehensive reporting to leadership
- Identify areas for process optimization and continuous improvement; deprecate redundant processes and introduce scalable mechanisms
- Write clear, persuasive narratives and documentation (roadmaps, PR/FAQs, MBR/QBRs, OP1/OP2) to communicate program vision and decisions to executive leadership
- Take ownership of communications to project members and stakeholders regarding progress, challenges, and risks
- Collaborate with senior leadership and operations teams to devise and deploy change management plans for new learning initiatives
- Facilitate constructive dialogues, reconcile divergent perspectives, and resolve contentious matters across diverse global teams
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of team management experience
- 5+ years of cross functional project delivery experience
- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
