Description

Tesla AI and robotics programs rely on compute for training and inference. To support this growing demand, the datacenter development teams have been working on custom data center rack hardware. On the compute hardware validation team, you can expect to be responsible for validating the performance, stability, and reliability of these systems from the component up to system level.  You will bring multi-disciplinary insight to guide HW, SW, and FW feature development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of junior engineers and technicians in solving complex problems sets and deliver findings, next steps, escalations to Exec level visibility
  • Develop test programs to stress and measure KPIs relating to system power and performance, study stability over the lifetime of electronics products
  • Collaborate with design engineers, reliability scientists, material scientists, quality, and service to identify failure modes, generate design validation and reliability test plans to isolate these effects
  • Perform component-level, system-level validation and reliability tests, simulating both realistic and accelerated use cases, to authenticate product viability leading into mass production
  • Identify and execute experiments targeting new technologies for critical failures impacting novel use cases
  • Design tester and bring up systems including lab hardware integration, tester software, and custom circuits/PCBs

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience with Python, C/C++, and Linux
  • 5+ years' experience working with complex electronics systems in the consumer or computer industry in a system integration or validation capacity
  • Working knowledge in some or all the typical EE domains such as PCIe, communication protocols, Post Silicon, Power, thermals, HW optimization, SIPI,  etc.
  • Experience solving hardware optimization problems balancing power, thermals, perf and reliability parameters
  • Experience with hardware design tools such as Altium, Cadence, LTSpice, Catia, Solidworks
  • Excellent grasp of engineering fundamentals, and experience with standard lab equipment (power supplies, electronic loads, o-scopes, DMMs etc.)
  • Comfort with managing competing priorities, complex timelines and resource limitations
