Sr. Design Technologist, Websites, Amazon Ads Marketing
This role sits at the intersection of product design and front-end engineering on the Amazon Ads Website Experiences team, where you will own the UX web flow strategy and universal design system that powers how millions of advertisers discover, learn, and take action. As we migrate two major web properties, you will define how components behave, look, and scale across 20+ marketplaces and 23 languages, compressing the gap between a Figma file and a live page from weeks to days. You will treat every component as a small product with real users, real metrics, and real iteration cycles.
This is not a traditional Design Technologist role where you pick up design specs and prototype them. We need someone who shapes UX strategy, owns the design system end-to-end, and eliminates the handoff bottleneck between design and engineering entirely. You will have a seat at the table where experience decisions are made and the technical ability to build them the same day.
Key job responsibilities
The Website Experiences team owns the strategy, design, and delivery of Amazon Ads' primary digital channels: the Amazon Ads website (advertising.amazon.com), Amazon Ads Academy, and organic/AI search. We set the standards for how millions of advertisers around the world discover Amazon Ads solutions, learn to use them, and take action. Our work spans content strategy, platform operations, and product experiences across 20+ marketplaces and 23 languages, partnering with product marketing, brand, engineering, and business teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality experiences at global scale. We move fast, hold a high bar, and ship things that matter.
Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. If you have a disability and need a workplace accommodation or adjustment during the application and hiring process, including support for the interview or onboarding process, please visit https://amazon.jobs/content/en/how-we-hire/accommodations for more information. Key job responsibilities
- Own UX web flow strategy for advertising.amazon.com and Amazon Ads Academy. Define how users navigate across content types, map decision paths, and design page structures that convert.
- Architect and govern the universal design system for AEM. Define every component’s interaction patterns, responsive behaviors, accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA), and usage guidelines so authoring teams can compose pages without breaking consistency.
- Apply a product design lens to AEM components. Treat each component as a product: define the user problem it solves, set success metrics, prototype variants, and iterate based on real data.
- Compress design-to-production timelines. Build production-grade front-end code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React) that engineering teams adopt directly. Eliminate handoff bottlenecks through tooling, automation, and reference implementations.
- Design for dual audiences (human + machine). Structure pages so they serve advertiser engagement and AI/LLM discoverability simultaneously, applying structured data, semantic hierarchy, and GEO principles.
- Lead cross-team design quality. Review vendor partner work, drive consensus on experience trade-offs, and influence engineering architecture to preserve design fidelity at scale.
- Mentor and raise the bar. Define prototyping workflows, standards, and best practices. Coach designers and technologists. Build mechanisms that make the whole team faster.
