Sr Database Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Senior Application Database Engineer to join our Database Engineering team. The candidate will be responsible for the administration, design, architecture, and optimization of enterprise database platforms, including PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and NoSQL databases. This role requires strong expertise in cloud-based database solutions, automation, database architecture, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to support both development and production environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in database engineering, performance optimization, automation, data modeling, and database lifecycle management while ensuring reliability, scalability, and security across the organization's data platforms.
This is a Hybrid position located in Frisco, TX. You will be required to be on-site on an as-needed basis; when you are not working on-site, you will work from your home office. You must be within commutable distance of Frisco, TX. We are not offering relocation assistance at this time.
Position DetailsAbout the Role
Database Administration & Engineering
- Administer, maintain, and support PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and NoSQL databases in production and non-production environments.
- Evaluate, configure, install, and manage database management systems through automated deployment processes.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, highly available, and secure database solutions.
- Perform database monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization activities.
Database Design & Architecture
- Develop and maintain database designs, data architectures, and data models.
- Collaborate with application development teams to review and recommend database structures and design improvements.
- Participate in database release management and deployment processes.
- Create and maintain logical and physical data models using tools such as ER/Studio.
Cloud & Automation
- Manage cloud-based database platforms, primarily within AWS.
- Develop automation solutions using Python and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
- Utilize Terraform and other automation tools to provision and manage database infrastructure.
- Support CI/CD and infrastructure automation initiatives related to database platforms.
Data Protection & Recovery
- Design and execute database backup, recovery, migration, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Ensure database availability, reliability, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Conduct recovery testing and support business continuity planning.
Collaboration & Support
- Partner with Infrastructure, Application Development, Product Management, Project Management, Information Security, and Operations teams.
- Assist in resolving development, testing, and production database issues.
- Lead database-related projects and provide technical guidance to stakeholders.
Emerging Technologies
- Support AI-focused data storage technologies and architectures.
- Develop knowledge and expertise in Vector Databases, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and related AI data platforms.
- Evaluate modern database technologies and recommend strategic adoption where applicable.
About You:
- 7+ years of database administration and engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience managing databases within AWS environments.
- Strong understanding of database structures, algorithms, software architecture, and scalable computing systems.
- Experience supporting both production and non-production environments.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL Administration.
- Experience with NoSQL databases, including DynamoDB.
- Strong knowledge of AWS database services and cloud architecture.
- Expertise in Database Design, Data Architecture, and Data Modeling.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Proficiency in Python scripting and automation.
- Experience designing and maintaining scalable database environments.
- Knowledge of database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Knowledge of Database Security best practices.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with Terraform.
- Linux administration skills.
- Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
- Familiarity with GitHub, ER/Studio, Jira, TIL-based service management tools
- Exposure to AI-related data platforms, including Vector Databases, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) Architectures.
- Strong project leadership and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Pay Range
The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $123,650.00/Yr. - USD $229,650.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
