The Spend Manager (Spend Governance) oversees and standardizes controls across the complete spend lifecycle to drive financial compliance, operational excellence, and reporting integrity. In this role, you will spend taxonomy lifecycle management, manage escalations for policy exceptions, enforce automated spend data hygiene routines, and eliminate misaligned or duplicate spend. Partnering cross-functionally with Finance, gSO, Operations, and Analytics teams, you will empower budget owners to navigate spend workflows effectively.In gTech Users and Products (gUP), our mission is to advocate for Google’s users by creating helpful and trusted experiences across the product ecosystem. US: $136000 - $196000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end spend governance frameworks and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Define cross-functional RACI matrices, compliance thresholds, and operational review cadences.
  • Conduct recurring governance audits and compliance reviews to track adherence to financial policies.
  • Curate, structure, and maintain centralized spend playbooks, process maps, and guidance materials.
  • Develop and scale a comprehensive curriculum covering the spend lifecycle and spend tooling.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in a customer or client-facing role supporting spend management, procurement operations, financial governance, or business operations.
  • 7 years of experience analyzing data and generating business insights.
  • 7 years of experience developing operational process solutions and working with cross-functional teams to implement these changes.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree in a related field or CSCMP certification.
  • 7 years of experience using data analysis to drive decision making.
  • Experience in data center equipment environments or computer component manufacturing.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and governing complex hierarchical spend taxonomies.
  • Experience designing and curating centralized knowledge assets and structured change logs for policy updates.
  • Knowledge of SQL, analytics and Operations Six Sigma certification or other relevant operations coursework.
