The impact you’ll make

This position plays a critical role in optimizing global spare parts inventory investments while ensuring industry-leading service levels and part availability for Lam's customers. This position supports the Spares Planning organization through inventory analysis, demand and supply insights, policy management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The analyst will leverage data-driven decision making to balance inventory availability, working capital efficiency, and operational risk across a complex global service supply chain. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to collaborate across Planning, Procurement, Logistics, Service Operations, and Product Management teams.

What you’ll do

Inventory Strategy & Optimization

  • Analyze global spare parts inventory to ensure alignment with customer service requirements and business objectives.
  • Support quarterly accountability system reviews by consolidating inventory data points to challenge assumptions made about spare parts planning strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory productivity through optimized stocking strategies, reorder parameters, and deployment practices.
  • Monitor inventory health metrics, including:  Inventory Turns, Excess and Obsolete Inventory, Bin Health, Forecast Accuracy, Service Levels, Backorders and Critical Shortages, and Inventory Aging.
  • Evaluate inventory investment levels and recommend actions to improve working capital efficiency while minimizing customer risk.
  • Support development and execution of inventory segmentation strategies based on demand patterns, criticality, lifecycle stage, and supply risk.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on inventory imbalances and develop corrective action plans.

Inventory Performance & Analytics

  • Develop and maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and scorecards that provide visibility into inventory performance and operational risk.
  • Analyze demand, supply, consumption, and inventory trends to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to leadership regarding inventory optimization opportunities. 
  • Monitor inventory exceptions and drive resolution of shortages, excess inventory, and parameter management issues. 
  • Support monthly and quarterly business reviews with inventory performance analysis and actionable recommendations. 
  • Perform scenario analysis to assess the impact of demand changes, supply disruptions, lifecycle transitions, and inventory policy adjustments. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Global Product Planning, Procurement, Logistics, and Service organizations to improve inventory outcomes. 
  • Collaborate with spares demand planners to understand consumption trends and variability impacting inventory requirements.
  • Facilitate alignment across stakeholders to drive inventory improvements and mitigate supply chain risks. 
  • With inputs from finance and product groups, identify changes in regional customer behaviors to enable accuracy of financial targets and key inventory metrics.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory planning processes, analytics, and business systems.
  • Support implementation of inventory optimization tools, planning technologies, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Establish standardized methodologies for inventory analysis and performance reporting.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance inventory visibility, planning effectiveness, and decision-making capabilities.

Who we’re looking for

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, Data Analytics, Operations, or related discipline; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in inventory planning, supply chain analytics, materials management, demand planning, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles, including safety stock, reorder point planning, service level management, and inventory optimization.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and business intelligence tools.
  • Experience analyzing large data sets and translating findings into actionable business recommendations.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence decision-making across cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience within semiconductor equipment, service supply chain, capital equipment, or high-tech manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of spare parts planning, aftermarket operations, inventory optimization, and service supply chain management.
  • Experience supporting global inventory organizations with multi-echelon inventory networks.
  • Familiarity with forecasting methodologies, inventory modeling, and service level planning concepts.
  • Knowledge of ERP and planning systems such as SAP, Kinaxis, Baxter Planning, Servigistics, or similar inventory planning platforms.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $92,000.00 -  $211,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
