ResponsibilitiesThe Solution Engineer is a contributing member of the Sales organization, supporting the design and delivery of technical solutions across Keysight's Network and Application/Security (NAS) test portfolio. This role is a strong fit for an engineer who is building hands-on expertise in test systems and networking protocols and is eager to grow into more complex, customer-facing technical work, including the emerging demands of AI/ML data center networking. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and bring adaptability and a collaborative, team-first approach. Recent graduates with a Master's degree and relevant internship or military experience are encouraged to apply.
A background equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is essential. The role supports both pre-sales and post-sales activities, with a working understanding of networking and routing protocols such as OSPF, ISIS, and MP-BGP, as well as EVPN/Segment Routing, and familiarity with data encapsulations including MPLS, VxLAN, MACSec, and RoCEv2.
As AI and machine learning workloads reshape modern data center architectures, exposure to AI/ML back-end network fabrics, including RoCEv2/RDMA and lossless Ethernet concepts (PFC, ECN, DCQCN) for GPU cluster environments, is a plus. Familiarity with private and public cloud capabilities, including Linux, KVM, containers, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, and Azure, is an advantage. Basic Python automation skills are valued for improving efficiency and supporting solution development.
Responsibilities
- Providing technical support and helping build solutions across Keysight's product such as IxNetwork and service portfolio, including AI data center test solutions, under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Participating in design and consultation sessions with prospective clients, contributing protocol knowledge and helping support the solution discussion.
- Working on well-defined technical problems and collaborating across teams to support customer needs.
- Adapting to shifting priorities and workload demands while maintaining a solution-oriented, execution-focused mindset.
- Supporting sales presentations, product installations, and maintenance to help ensure smooth product integration into customer systems.
- Assisting with the integration of Keysight products and services into the customer's environment and helping verify interoperability.
- Assisting customers in validating AI/ML back-end network fabrics, including RoCEv2/RDMA performance and lossless Ethernet behavior (PFC, ECN, DCQCN), with support from senior team members as needed.
- Helping tailor solutions to customer needs by applying knowledge of networking, routing, and data center fabric protocols.
- Developing product demonstrations and customer training materials.
- Using Python automation to improve efficiency and support rapid prototyping, while developing an understanding of the overall QA automation framework.
- Staying current on industry trends, competitive products, and developments in networking protocols, AI/ML fabric technologies, and automation techniques.
- Collaborating with the Engineering and Product Management teams and sharing customer feedback to help refine product features.
- Supporting the sales process by helping build proof-of-concept tests that demonstrate solution capabilities.
Must-Have (Required)
- A background equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering (or a Master's degree with relevant internship or military experience).
- 2+ years in customer-facing or lab-based engineering roles, OR equivalent internship / military / academic project experience for recent graduates.
- Working proficiency with IEEE 802.3 Ethernet and TCP/IP internetworking.
- Familiarity (production or lab) with core data center and routing protocols such as VxLAN, EVPN, BGP, and OSPF.
- Foundational Python scripting ability for automation and test tasks.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with openness to feedback, a team-first approach, and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of work time.
Desired (Nice to Have)
- Network certification such as CCNA or CCNP (or equivalent).
- Pre-sales or other customer-facing exposure.
- Familiarity with additional data center architectures and protocols: CLOS, Leaf/Spine, MPLS, Segment Routing.
- Experience with traffic generation / network test equipment; exposure to Ixia test products a plus.
- Experience with virtualization stacks (KVM/Open vSwitch, VMware/NSX) and/or containerization (Docker, K8s).
- Working knowledge of REST APIs and public clouds (AWS, GCP).
- Exposure to AI/ML data center networking, including RoCEv2/RDMA, lossless Ethernet, and congestion control mechanisms (PFC/ECN/DCQCN); awareness of GPU cluster fabrics and AI workload traffic patterns (e.g., collective communication such as NCCL).
- Awareness of AI network test/validation solutions such as Keysight KAI (Keysight AI) Data Center Builder, and of Ultra Ethernet (UEC) and InfiniBand as fabric alternatives.
