Solar & Storage Energy Incentives Specialist
Description
Tesla is seeking a sharp, detail-oriented Incentives Specialist to join our Approvals Operations team. This role sits at the intersection of regulatory program management and operational execution, responsible for the end-to-end processing of solar and storage incentive applications across state and utility programs nationally. The specialist owns application intake through final approval, maintaining accuracy in a high-volume environment where program requirements change frequently. The right candidate brings process discipline, a willingness to dig into program rules, and the drive to improve the workflows they own.
Responsibilities
- Submit and track incentive applications across state programs, utility programs, and rebate platforms from intake through final approval or closure
- Own the identification, response, and resolution of rejected or flagged applications, escalating as needed to reach a final outcome
- Ensure every application is captured with the correct incentive type, program designation, and required documentation before and after submission
- Advance a concurrent pipeline of applications by following up with utilities and program administrators to eliminate delays and reduce time to approval
- Monitor approval rates, rejection patterns, and application accuracy; flag systemic issues to leadership before they impact volume
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in operations, energy, or a related field
- Detail-oriented and organized; comfortable owning high-volume application workflows where accuracy matters
- Familiarity with state or utility incentive programs (SGIP, SRECs, NEM, NYSERDA, or similar) a plus; willingness to learn program-specific rules quickly is required
- Data-literate: able to work with application data in Excel or similar tools to track status, identify gaps, and surface reporting; Tableau or SQL experience a plus
- Organized and self-directed; comfortable managing a pipeline of concurrent applications across multiple programs and deadlines
- Strong communicator with experience coordinating across teams and with utility or incentive program contacts
