Software QA Engineer - Performance Testing
We are Siemens
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our software.
We are looking for a Software QA Engineer – Performance Testing to design, automate, and execute performance testing strategies for cloud-based enterprise applications, APIs, platforms, and distributed services.
In this role, you will evaluate system performance, identify bottlenecks, analyze scalability and reliability, and establish performance baselines to support release readiness. Working closely with Software Development, Architecture, DevOps, and QA teams, you will help embed performance engineering into the software development lifecycle and explore AI-assisted performance analysis and anomaly detection.
Key Responsibilities
- Design performance test strategies: Plan and execute load, stress, scalability, endurance, spike, capacity, and benchmark tests using realistic workload models.
- Develop performance automation: Build and maintain reusable performance test scripts, frameworks, and workload-generation solutions using tools such as JMeter, k6, Locust, or equivalent technologies.
- Analyze and troubleshoot performance: Investigate latency, throughput, resource utilization, and system behavior to identify bottlenecks and perform root-cause analysis.
- Establish performance baselines: Compare results across builds and releases, identify regressions, and provide data-driven recommendations for performance and release readiness.
- Test cloud-native and distributed systems: Evaluate APIs, microservices, databases, and enterprise applications across containerized and cloud-based environments.
- Leverage monitoring and observability: Use metrics, logs, traces, and dashboards to correlate performance results with system behavior and communicate actionable findings.
- Integrate performance engineering into delivery: Embed automated performance checks into CI/CD pipelines and collaborate across engineering teams to improve performance standards, test efficiency, and continuous quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in performance testing or performance engineering, including workload design, execution, analysis, and reporting.
- Hands-on experience with performance testing tools such as Apache JMeter, k6, Locust, RPT, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Go, or Groovy, with the ability to develop and maintain test automation.
- Experience testing web applications, APIs, and distributed services, with knowledge of REST APIs, HTTP, databases/SQL, and relevant communication protocols.
- Strong understanding of performance metrics, workload modelling, statistical analysis, performance baselining, regression detection, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience with cloud-native or enterprise application architectures, CI/CD integration, and monitoring/observability tools, along with strong analytical and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience performance-testing microservices, Kubernetes-based applications, containers, and large-scale distributed systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI.
- Experience with observability and application performance monitoring tools such as Grafana, InfluxDB, Telegraf, Loki, Tempo, Kibana, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics.
- Experience with distributed load generation, performance dashboards, and automated performance regression testing.
- Knowledge of Git/GitLab, Jira, and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Exposure to desktop application performance testing, WebSockets, GraphQL, CLI-based testing, or other relevant protocols.
- Experience with AI/ML-assisted performance analytics, anomaly detection, or automated root-cause analysis.
